Originally posted by Unregistered View Post.... Each Academy has to pay the USSF a lot of money yearly to maintain their status, so in that way as well as others they are exactly like a Mcdonald's. They are franchisees of the USSDA.
For that, USSF operates all USSDA leagues, all USSDA games and all showcase events, pays all referee fees and provides Nike balls, Power-Aid stations, coach curriculum, technical advisors, scouts and need-based scholarship money for player travel.
Much greater value is received for those payments to USSF than is received for the sums of money that players/clubs/teams now pay for FYSA and league memberships, referee fees and State Cup participation.

The issue is its still a pay to play league. In order to find and develop our Nations bet it needs to be available to all walks of life, not just the financially elite. The best players in the world weren't born with a silver spoon in their mouth.
Also DA needs to separate entirely from clubs and be run and governed by USSoccer.

$100 per player DA reg fee is insane. That's where they make all the $$$$. Each club will be paying $6900 plus $25 per coach for their 3 teams.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostThe hundred dollars would be fine but plenty of the DA's are still pay to play. Only the MLS and a few straggler clubs are free to the athletes. So there is still an issue with the system and though thru mandate the Da's U16-!8 can have a total of 46 players between them the DA's for the pay clubs have learned to get around the system, by having 8-12 developmental players that they sucker into the reserve with promises of the first team, then play them 2 games at most....by the way there is nothing with a true reserve where players come up or down from the first team, and if they use the reserve team adequately playing good tournaments and developing those players as they do in the professional leagues.

And of course parents of girls are going to look at the DA from the perspective of girls soccer. Thank you Captain Obvious for your astute observation.
