Of course it's boys since there is no girls program yet. Idiot

GDA is just part of the problem - there's pay to play, parents, poor coaching, little financial support (MLS clubs only vs what international clubs do), focus on college...What GDA has not done is raise the level of play in international play or professionally.

There's a bigger fundamental issue - we're trying to cram an academy system into a culture and infrastructure that can't support it. If the real goal of DA is to improve the men's NT and maybe create more pro players, it should be much smaller. Having this massive league means some poor coaching and talent is allowed in. Let the rest of the players play an ECNL - like league since the main goal for most players in DA is college, not NT or going pro. Boys ECNL is going to draw some players away from DA, especially from non MLS clubs. But maybe those clubs shouldn't be there in the first place?

My kid (pedestrian talent level) did not even get picked to attend a DA tryout, does this piss anybody else off? Discuss.

There is a proposed GDA, Idiot. Have you been under a rock the past few weeks, Idiot? As the poster mentioned, the age groupings for the GDA will be U-14/15, U-16/17 and U-18/19, Idiot.

Which also means far fewer players than that other poster claiming 9000+. The other idiot clearly can't read. Of course it was referring to boys DA.

                - different poster

^^^^ this is so true. USSF is trying to be everything to everybody. That rarely gets you anywhere unless you want to be bland like McDonalds' - restaurants on every corner serving mediocre food. Look at some of the clubs admitted in the last round and they still aren't done yet. Their focus should just be for the top 5%, the rest should be left to their own devices. This is true of the boys and the girls side. But at least on the boys side theres' the MLS club involvement (true pro coaches + no fees + a few players actually going pro). The girls side won't have that and going pro isn't even the radar for 99.9999999% of girls - it's all about college

If, as you say, there are 7.5 million boy youth soccer players in this country, that are registered with US Soccer, can't US soccer just add $10 per registration per year to cover the cost with all monies going to the DA. Then you will have more of the best players playing in the DA, which would raise the level considerably.
US Soccer makes money on the DA. Each club and academy has to pay US Soccer for their academy status.

You are clueless. No academy fee, no showcase fees, us soccer even pays all the referee fees for every DA game.

Flat out Wrong, Each Academy has to pay the USSF a lot of money yearly to maintain their status, so in that way as well as others they are exactly like a Mcdonald's. They are franchisees of the USSDA.
