Cuomo was talking about School Sports specifically today:

Club games still in limbo. They are not very clear about this. From Cuomo's presentation, it looks like no travel soccer until Oct 19.

Club teams should not be traveling out of state. They shouldn't even be traveling outside of their region within the state.

Did the NY ECNL teams not play at the PDA Kickoff last weekend?

They did. But they should not have. ENYYSA had sent out very specific guidelines telling clubs not to allow their teams to travel out of state due to NY State guidelines. US Club is under the same obligation but said nothing so ECNL is playing the hear no evil, see no evil game and traveling with plausible deniability.

in theory teams in the northeast should be able to play each other as long as all of them keep numbers low, no overnight stays required etc. But then again, there's a lot of common sense stuff that should happen and isn't.

Sounds like there are still quite a few things to work out...hopefully there will be more specifics before the end of the week:

Highly doubt will be fall sports! Superintendent's for Nassau and Suffolk meeting today to discuss pushing all Fall sports to January. They were hoping Cuomo did it for them but left them making the decision.

idiotic! that is the one thing that they should be doing before the winter forces everyone indoors. smh.

unscrupulous lawyers creating cloud of liability fears is probably the main reason everyone is afraid to re open.

how long can you keep everything locked down!

the 'cure' is more harmful than the disease.

It also has a lot to do with the ability to arrange busing, handling locker rooms, getting willing coaches, etc.

I partly agree. I know of at least 6 teachers, they are all ready, willing and able to go back to the classrooms. (this is a strict contrast to what the unions want).

I also know many many coaches of different sports. They all want the season to begin!!!

Sure, the main reasons are the districts being afraid and broke but they also have the very real problem of having go change how the sports programs are run to meet Cuomo's byzantine nightmare of regulations. They are having trouble enough trying to meet the various requirements to get kids back in the classroom and have no extra time, money or effort to spend on trying to do the same for sports.

First and foremost our priority is school. Plain and simple. That is what the Governor and club ty officials should be working on to ensure that the schools can open and be run in a safe manner based on the guidelines put in place by the medical professionals. How they then deal with sports is secondary. Right now let’s get kids in school. To take the attitude that high school sports or club sports are equally as significant is not even close. Let’s get schools up and running then implement a plan that can start at the end of September if everything goes well in the classroom. Anything else will be reckless.
