Not the poster but I'd start first with the losing record. That's no fun even for elite athletes.

No excuses These are ALL HER recruits. Uconn in a very average conference should never be this bad. She recruited every player on the roster. It should have been an easy transition but no they crashed and burned. AD has to be quite upset with this hire.

The AD made the hire. Some self reflection might be in order first.

Wasn’t he pressured to make hire. Female Alum. If he wanted her it surely would have taken a lot less time to make announcement. She was 5th choice.

Considering the coach doesn’t actually play in the games, the losing record is on the shoulders of the players.
The players may complain their way to a walk on spot at southern if they get her fired
She will get at least 2 more years to turn this around- Lenny made the decisions for half this team
The AD went thru the motions that’s why it took time, the transition path was set up before Lenny retired- all of the recruits knew that

She did the bulk of the recruiting under Lenny. If a coach has poor training or is making poor game day decisions that's largely on the coach as well. Low morale can also be partly attributed to the coach. Pitiful that you pin this all on the players.

If what the other poster said is true and her contract is up this year, if she has another clunker, she’s finished. Would hate to see it because she’s a great person and ambassador/representative of the school.

Let's stop overusing the term "elite". We do not call CCSU or Fordham football players elite because they are D1, so let's not call UCONN soccer players elite either.

Sometimes good assistant coaches don't make good head coaches. Same with great players not making good coaches. It happens in other jobs as well - eg when a great sales person doesn't make a good manager. Different skill sets, difference performance criteria

Yeah, they really aren't. UNC, FSU, UCLA top players are Elite ..... USWNT even more elite ..... UCONN ... not so much.

UNC>UCONN>CCSU. Point being "high level" competitive players want to win. Being on a losing team can be a drag for some players; others just get on with it. But a losing record won't help with recruiting either. Top it off with UCONN in a weaker conference and they have a harder time getting "top" players.

you make good points but yet all we are going by are results- does she have poor training? does she make poor game decisions? is the morale bad other than losing? idk the answers to those questions, but she is the same coach that was there when they were winning
as far as pinning it on the players they are the ones that have the most impact on how the game goes-soccer is not football where game plan is everything.
as far as recruiting- mags did the scouting but lenny made the decisions- mags liked my kid, lenny didn't, she doesn't go to UCONN. its ok she landed well and not every coach likes the same kind of players- wish them well
