It was predictable that the soccer community would snicker at the overall quality of players in the GDA. It’s not about having better players. It’s just a different experience for the kids.

It was and still is my opinion that the rosters should be kept private to prevent the negative comments on quality of the players. Yes some kids from B teams and non starters might have signed up but you have to roll with what you got.

Good luck to everyone in Oregon.
Don’t worry about the quality of the other players. Just worry about your self. It’s only frustrating if you let it be.

They have to release the rosters for the league they play in.

Who cares what the quality level of the players is? Nobody plays each other anyway. It’s a big mess. Good players are now spread all over. Stupid. There should be one league/system. There’s way too much dilution.

Sorry cant cheer for that, only LOL at the parents and say shame on the clubs.

A tremendous breakthrough in Thorns DA due to the deterioration of the Club and ECNL Swamp. Our leadership has broken the old mold and transformed the DA into a national contender this year. Thank you US SOCCER for creating a path of excellence.

Thornz not even a contender for the national rec championship.

Nobody cares if they have B teamers. This is a marathon not a sprint. Nobody cares if you “snicker” at the quality. Get over yourself. Nobody cares.

True. Thornz don't even care. They've never had an Asylum player make it to the 1st team and never will.

Thorns academy girls just started playing competitive games in the official GDA league last year. Haven’t made the 1st team? Seriously!? A one year old program hasn’t created a first team player yet? Woa..what a debacle. “And never will”. So now you can see the future? You should quit your day job and go into the fortune telling business. If you should say, “no need you will be proven right”, then again I say, you are the only person on the planet with this ability. I think the odds are against your singular ability, but maybe not your arrogance. Good luck to any player from Oregon be they from the Thorns or from any Oregon team that could achieve playing time on a first team somewhere.

Thorns is just another option for kids. Nobody said they were better or worse than other clubs. It really just comes down to who wants to work hard to get better. If the B teamers that your refer to work hard, someday maybe they will be A teamers and that’s the goal to get better. The overall soccer quality in Oregon is middle of the road so we’re not talking big time wherever you go. Just have fun.

Travel is expensive. Paying coaches is expensive. $400 per month isn’t bad at all.

It’s the American way. You have to unfsrstand that top players don’t have to make the sacrifices that others do. Missing school to travel, giving up high school sports, missing school events on and on are big sacrifices. The point of this program I assume is to make kids better.
If you wind up with underperforming kids the goal would be to make them better.

Measuring success IMO isn’t necessarily in the overall quality of the players or team, but more about how much the kids improve from beginning to end of the season.

It's worth noting CU claims to have been a contender at one age group of their National Rec Cup. Came up short, in the end,.

I think it’s great they let some of the less talented kids have a shot to improve their game.

Has the HS ban changed? Last year, HS seniors could play both but had to take a ‘leave’ from GDA during HS season. It looks like they are allowed to do both at the same time now. Is this only for seniors?
