Boston Breakers Partner With Scorpions Soccer Club

Stars parent here. This is great for New England soccer. A strong Scorpion, now Breakers, club from U-little thru U23 plus the professional ranks provides more competition and options for players. Which is what we parents should really care about. Congrats to all involved. Wicked good news!

Surprised no one is recognizing the obvious. Fred sold out. This is not the Scorpions living for another day, this is the Breakers buying out a dying club to feed their expansion plans. Clearly the Breakers are interested in building an end to end solution and the Scorpions brand gives them an immediate infrastructure to start with. Why anyone would think the Breakers are going to let Fred run it though? The Breakers are run by an ex-MPS guy. Clearly he is following the model the Bradley's used to start MPS. Yes this is going to be great for Mass soccer but it is not going to be good for the Scorpions families. They are now with a different club and located in an entirely new location. Be careful what you are applauding.

How will this shake out. A really good question that I saw in another thread was what happens to the boys program? I am wondering if there is another move a foot and that perhaps it might be with the Bolts. That would put both a DAP and ECNL affiliation in one club.

This is a great day for anyone affiliated with the Scorps, period. A good day for Fred. A good day for the Scorps families, girls and boys. A good day for kids who used to play for Scorps looking for some bridge work after college. No negatives here for anyone associated with Scorps. Not a great day perhaps for some poorly timed departures, or for NEFC.

A good day for kids who used to play for Scorps looking for some bridge work after college. No negatives here for anyone associated with Scorps. Why is this a poor day for the people departing? Ever consider that those people knew that this was in the works and maybe didn't want to be a part of. Maybe they weren't offered a part in it. It is not like new management teams don't like to hire their own people.

The impact on NEFC remains to be scene. On the surface a better run ECNL club would seem to be a problem but the whole move to Hopkinton might actually weaken them more rather than strengthen them. A lot will depend on how strong this new club actually becomes. One thing is certain having three top level clubs all within a short drive of each other is not going to help their overall competitiveness.

You need to wait until the dust clears. Safe to say this is just an interim step.
