Only a dolt would not realize the upside for the boys teams created by the Breakers merger. In this day and age it doesn't matter whether the players and coaches are male or female. Great young players are looking to both genders for role models and guidance. My kid is as interested in watching Mia, Marta, and Morgan as he is in watching Messi and Maradona. He knows great soccer when he sees it. Watch and learn. Smart players on the boys side will embrace this merger. It is the future.

Is western united still on board? Or did that deal fizzle?

Scorps were backing away from the WUP merger, even before the Breakers announcement. The central training location thing didn't stick, and there was no mention of WUP in the Breakers release. Calling Western Mass... anyone out there know what's going on?

You certainly aren't going to get any of these level players to jump into this fire while they are in the midst of the recruiting process. That sinks your ECNL program. Best move is to build the pre-ECNL teams and that is going to take a whole lot of convincing.
Thanks, btdt. And thank goodness at least one person out there cares about the youth of Massachusetts.

            a) this Breakers entity is going to assume the management of the clubs so it will functionally be new with no track record.
            b) the Scorpions just lost most of their management team and replaced them with young and inexperienced coaches.
            c) the Scorpions on field results over the past year have not been good.

The bottom line is this new Breakers entity is a high risk venture. Anyone who doesn't approach this situation very cautiously gets what they deserve.
btdt, adroit analysis as usual. Thanks. At least one person can see through all the smoke and mirrors and re-direct everyone to his club.

In the last year the scorpions management team did not manage. They simply coached their teams which is what created a problem at the club.

Problem solved. The dysfunction was removed. The new blood coming in are poised to advance the club further than anyone on TS would have imagined. It sucks when you realize how wrong you are. The Breakers are in the best position possible to monopolize the south shore.
