What is going on with Seacoast DA?

The 19 boys have only played 2 games and aren't scheduled to play the next game for 2 more weeks.

The 17 boys have only played 1 game and aren't scheduled to play the next game for 2 more weeks.

How can taking a month+ off during the season be any good for them?

    3 words... High School Soccer

They basically are scheduling games around HS season since they let everyone play. It was the only way to get/keep players.

They never should have been given GDA. They can barely manage BDA.

That pretty much defeats the purpose of DA and makes it just like ECNL.

          That's nonsense.

The simple reason is that Seacoast is run by incompetents and many of their best players left. Academy should have players beating down their doors to play. Seacoast has chased them away by offering nothing that they can't get at High School except long bus rides and destruction at the hands (feet) of better run academy's.

          It's really a disgrace.

What kind of talent pool does New Hampshire have for boys soccer anyways? Why does Seacoast DAP even exist?

Seacoast draws from other states. The problem is that GDA is not what was anticipated. It’s too bad. It was a good program on the boys side although Seacoast struggled with two other BDA clubs in the area. Seacoast only has to contend with NEFC on the girls side, so it’s surprising it is so weak.

The boys program isn't very good and because there are two stronger boys programs in the area it has always struggled. There are NH players that go to Foxboro to avoid SCU. If you have good coaching players will go, but they don't go to SCU. They never should have been given GDA - again, they're not a strong boys and the girls teams were mid level NPL, not even top teams. It was sprung on kids late and a lot of girls just didn't want it, many were left scrambling and didn't have good alternatives. Realistically there may not have been many players that should even be in GDA. There's other GDA clubs with stronger coaching so if you want GDA you probably won't want SCU.

Prime example of USSF filling geographic holes and keeping market share rather than maintaining the quality USSF claims they care about.

The travel requirements are oppressive. Why would players be fine being told they now have an onerous travel obligation?

That and the NE division isn't very strong. A few good teams that will smack them down 5-0 easily (always a good time), then a bunch of other mediocre ones. Let's drive to Long Island for the day to play another bad team!

                      Do tell...what was anticipated?

Was it your impression they were going to start a program late, and have full participation to rival a quality club like NEFC (who happens to be the best club in the N'East)?

That's not a realistic expectation for the first year.

I mean, they've been playing for two months and you have already considered it a failure based on...what?

Personally, I think it's good to have at least two DA clubs in the same general region. Look at how poor the Revs program is compared to other MLS DA programs. They are already putting in minimal resources and are surviving solely on the fact that they are free and the better players go there for exposure, not for development (non-MLS DA clubs are shut out of important exposure events, like GA Cup). I'd hate to think what would happen to that program if there were no longer Bolts or Seacoast competing for players.

Likewise on the girls side, NEFC needs to be kept accountable. It's a strong program right now, but you never know if/when it might start to slide. Not all players like certain coaches, not all coaches like certain players, so it's good for players to have another option in Seacoast if NEFC isn't working for them and they want GDA. Seacoast is doing respectably in the GDA, especially for their first year, with a late program announcement on top of it. In the standings, the 15s are right behind NEFC, with the 16/17s two behind NEFC. Give them a couple years to build the program.

Love it! I wondered if I could draw out Mr. NEFC Propaganda machine. You made my day. That was fun and easy. Now, I actually have to work.

If having multiple clubs in an area means the talent is too diluted and/or clubs are not very good then that does no one any good. DA is too big to sustain the quality USSF claims it is. Also, the Revs blow so it's hard to really assess what the impact would be on the area if it were stronger. There's no free to play programs in GDA so it's more apples to apples.
