Maybe but of her family pays the same tax bill as fsmiles with female players, why should her son be treated differently?

In the coaches opinion he wasn't good enough compared to the competition. Move on. Join the drama team or play club soccer. Our participation trophy culture leads to inane lawsuits like this.

Did u even read the article? It is jv soccer they r discussinq not some varisty want to be. The question is the inequity between the district policy of 25 members including upper class men for girls jv and only 18 spots financed with no upper class men for the boys.

The article claims that little Joey was devastated and all he cares about is soccer. Sorry, but if playing soccer was all that little Joey cared about, then he would likely be good enough to make the Varsity team. Apparently the mother and her lawyer had other coaches evaluate the player too because they didn't like the evaluation that the original coach gave him? I hope little Joey loses....it would be a good life lesson.

That is not the basis for the legal action. It said that the girls take 25 jv players from freshman to senior. The boys only tale 18 from junior and seniors. I would not bother with a lawsuit but this family fells it is unfair that girls get more than boys and presumably they pay a nice fat tax bill like all the girls families do. Court will decide and life will go on

The taxes are state paid. I expect the fed court to bounce it basesd on lack of jurisdiction. Issue will be if taxpayer can dictate school policy re enrichment activities. Sports are not required under most state education charters. Expect programs to get cut and become club at school. Society of people who want to control everything for kids.
Also michael jordan only made jv first yr in high school. Motivated him to excel. This suit motivates kid to cry to mommy. Our future leaders people. Not good.

School programs including enrichment program are funded by the community for the students of the community. There should not be more enrichment available for one gender or the other. It should be equal.

I read it and got it. Caught the district with an inconsistent rule between boys and girls teams. Someone effed up. But your kid was cut. Get over it and on with your life.

The poor kid will need to change schools now anyway. Problem solved. Way to put a bullseye on your wallflower’s back lawnmower mom.

That and Title 9 applies to equal treatment for both genders for any educational institution that receives federal funding, including the nation's public schools. If the rules file the boys and girls are different there might be a case. Problem is it will take too long and the kid is now the school laughing stock

They get picked from the school board and the department of education; not the community. That is why some townships have cut their athletics and arts. Enrichment isn't equal and isn't guaranteed under the state constitution as far as education is concerned. Not a fan, but it they are the facts, sadly.

Private schools get to dictate their education and enrichment programs. They are not taxpayer funded. So, this is where she, the mom would get some traction. Otherwise, athletics, arts, etc., are not mandatory programs for education in most states. And, they have been cut some eliminated completely.

Life isn't fair. In the work world, I cannot tell you how many times the guy that socializes with the boss outside work, tells a good joke, or is the first one to throw others under the bus gets promoted over other better qualified candidates. You get used to it and carve your own niche to success. You certainly do not sue your way through life every time you do not get your way.
