This is such a BS red herring argument. Either that or you are so woefully out of touch you or you are simply beyond repair. Do you think sports like squash, track and field, cross country, swimming, etc. make money? How about golf? Equestrian? How about the Capella team? Chess? Band? Debate? The list goes on and on. There is so much more to collegiate athletics and any ancillary competitive activity for that matter that goes far beyond the almighty dollar. That is why they exist.

Very few sports teams in the country cover their costs. Some football. Maybe some men's basketball? But it is a silly argument. College sports are loss leaders if that's your measure.

You obviously have no freaking idea what so ever how college sports work. Most athletic programs are separate legal entities from the universities the athletes go to school at. Usually they are a non profit. There might also be a separate entity for marketing and merchandising. Presidents like Silber f**ked up and missed the boat with stupid thinking like yours.

From a pure budgeting standpoint most teams will be in the red. Exceptions are big football and basketball that get the TV and ad dollars. That only applies to the big successful programs though. Anyone watching UML soccer on TV? I didn't think so. The theory with college athletics is it attracts students the school wants and brings lots of alumni dollars but those benefits won't be easily traced.

Has anyone ever heard the local ECNL clubs actually using this? Must be difficult with the back to back games, playoffs with 5 games in 6 days, ect...

I sincerely doubt it. The work involved for similar activity in DA was too much for some when they bailed, making an assumption this will end up being the same...

the app is only as good as the player inputs. I dont think you can rely on kids to do it properly when playing time etc is at stake. In College where you have qualified trainers at every practice, its a lot harder for kids to not do ti properly

There is more money involved than you think. Some of you clearly haven’t ever budgeted anything beyond your own checkbooks. Do a little research and go find what college athletic directors and coaches get paid even at the back end schools of D1. They certainly aren’t making minimum wage. In many colleges the AD and coaches make more than the school president and key administration personnel. That will give you an understanding of how big the revenue streams are from the schools many athletic endeavors. It not limited to just gate receipts. There are many marketing tie in that most of you aren’t even thinking of.

And you are dead wrong. The revenues, and the costs associated with the revenues, never catch up except in the big sports.

Please do not mix soccer in with the big boy sports and conferences. SEC football, ACC basketball? For some, this is true. Saban, Calhoun, Auriemma, Pitino, Calipari ...... D1 soccer, not so much .... not even at the top 20 programs across the board and certainly not for women's coaches with maybe one or two exceptions. I will believe you when you prove this. Big time college ADs and presidents also get paid big bucks!
