Real players don't tryout, they know where they are playing. Good players who are moving are negotiated behind the scenes. Didn't say it was right, just the facts. Tryouts are for U14 and under.
You don't have to try. You are an ass.

so now instead of all clubs having tryouts the latter part of May all tryouts will occur early in April. The player who wants to find the best spot is still screwed since all clubs tryout at the same time.

The clubs do everything to their advantage. parents/kids are afraid to miss tryout at club a to tryout at club b because what will club A do if they are missing at a tryout. The movement of players is thus limited.

Clubs should operate in a free environment where kids can go sample other clubs/coaches. I think we would be surprised how ordinary most clubs are and how there are some special clubs out there....

So your kid doesn't have to tryout good for you . However you still will have to sign for your new club in April pay them a deposit and then continue playing and paying for your old club for the next 4 months . Should make for some interesting parent sideline conversations .

Another side benefit of the April date is it will be a lot less likely to have rain/lightening canceled tryouts that we normally get at the end of May and early June.

There is NO, ZERO exact tryout date for US Club Soccer. Any club, at any time can have a player come to try out for their club, provided it is for US Club Soccer. It is preferred but not mandatory like FYSA, they have a spring tryout.

How is it four months after. You try out April and play for April and May with your current club. How do you get 4 months?

We are still completing the 2016/17 season which ends last day of July so that SC and President Cup winners can compete at regionals . Presumably this will change for the 2017/18 season .
Just check your player card it expires 7/30/17 .

Another issue will be where as in the past tryouts took place in May but for the majority teams competitive play had come to an end at least for July and August . Now tryouts in April will be followed by a full competitive slate of games , State Cup , numerous tournaments as well some league play . This I fear will lead to a lot of issues between those families that are staying and those leaving . Tournament weekend trips should be loads of fun .

Surprised USYS hasn't gone to a calendar year competitive season to go along with the new age groupings. Let Christmas/New Year's Showcases be the end of the competitive year for everyone, tryouts start after Jan 1. Leave State Cup as is as a mid-year competition, use the fall for training/development/time off for HS season as needed/prep for major Showcases end of year.

First round of State Cup is last week of March . Tryouts first week of April . Second round of State Cup is second week of April . That will be a busy three weeks .

Not a bad idea and train during the summer evenings when kids have no school!

While the date was moved up because of US Club Soccer, it was not because US Club Soccer tryouts happen April 1st. They actually don't have a mandated tryout date at all.

Interesting idea/possible solution. That may be where it ends up going in the future.
