Does anyone doubt that this happens? I see it happen with roughly 2-3 kids a team. Usually the parents freak out and either switch clubs or become a sideline poison. Definitely not a non-issue.

It's ****ing soccer....really. Grow up. It's a game, and no one cares very much about it once they get their head screwed on straight (which happens after they stop vicariously living through their child).

whew!
So much energy wasted on meaningless posts thus far.
Whether or not the thread was started for the sake of starting a thread or to ask an important question is not really important.
First, I would say this about your own child. The player that is learning the most and more likely to be recruited is the one with the ball most of the time. The others are just watching and will continue to watch others play well into their adult years. The age old question of tactical vs technical is very important with regard to recruiting. If you are the one who always gives the ball up to the another who then creates the play then you will be less recruited.
Your child has to be involved!!!
For the amount of money that you are paying the club, the club has to take some responsibilty in promoting and preparing beyond the practices and games. Setting up showcase weekends of training and games with college coaches in attendance is one way to help. Paying for team videographers and giving players/parents access is a great way to make highlight videos, which are very important. Attending specific school clinics/camps is a third way.
It is a group effort that involves your kids desire, the parents willingness and ability to investigate and collect (e.g. videos), and the clubs promotional efforts.
Good luck.

"Very entertaining exchange you two."
It's not two people. It's a few different people taunting the whack job Perspective.

Definitely do not tell other club parents your goal institutions for recruiting. Hard when everyone is *friendly* for the win.
