I didn't mean to imply the ACC was declining, but rather BC's ability to recruit players by using the ACC affiliation. Previously, with less competition from other conferences, the ACC name made up for BC's northern location, poor facilities and limited educational offerings when compared to a large state and research university. This is no longer the case. Teams like Clemson, Florida, Texas, and other traditional football powerhouses are well funded and building incredible facilities and programs. The competitive landscape is changing faster than ever.

So 3 ACC teams went down today leaving 2 in the elite 8. Both UNC & Duke face the top seeds in their bracket. 1 team in the college cup looks very likely and even 0 is possible. Imagine that!

Elite Eight
So let's size up this season's offering.
Two west coast teams USC and Santa Clara. Nice to see the latter back in the mix.
The southeast is moving in with Auburn and South Carolina. Can either go further?
This year's sorta Northeast teams Georgetown and West VA. Is the latter for real?
The old guard ACC offers UNC and Duke. Could they be completely be erased from the college cup for the first time ever? I think AD will prevent that from happening.
The Midwest is noticeably absent from the proceedings.

College Cup
As I had predicted, 1 ACC team made it.
In addition, Georgetown and WVU are in.
MA and USC are also there.
SEC made a run but their show is over.

If voted I'm guessing Andrews has a good shot. She has been a huge name for years, and her return to the top, after transferring to USC, helping lead the team to the final 4 is a great story.

On today at 5 and 7. UNC plays Team Canada aka WVU in a defensive slugfest. Next two of the best center mids square off in the next offering the closest to the beautiful game as one will see this season. That will be worth watching.

When is the last time no ACC team played in the final?

Watching Morgan Andrew's entry pass for the USC goal i couldn't help but think how well she would have done flying like an Eagle, feeding Dowd and Meehan. Why can't we get players like that?

Andrews covered well all night. In last 4 minutes she dropped into back line when defenders pulled out of position. And she just barely missed a few great entry passes. I agree it wasn't her best effort, but good enough to contribute to a well deserved victory.
WVU looks pretty unstoppable. But it's soccer. You never know. Go USC
