Is there a website that lists all of the 2013 commits?

ESPN Rise used to be great resource but it seems as though it is no longer being updated. Thx.

OP here. You are correct. It's looks like it will be tougher to do this this year. We will need the help of folks here. I have other methods, but ESPN has been the best. The key is for parents to feel that no derogatory personal comments will be made. That has been mostly adequate on this thread recently.

Is this kid (as a soccer player) as outstanding as a 2014 commitment to Duke sounds? That designation would suggest he is among the top few male players over a span of several years.

I spoke with the former writer for ESPN HS and he informed me that ESPN is no longer covering HS sports except for football. There is a new site that he is running that will cover HS and youth soccer. It is elitesoccerreport.com

It is just getting started but I think it will offer the commitment lists.

How so? Are you referring to the total $ it might actually mean?... or lack thereof?

Is this it??? How about some D3s if there are no more D1s?

OP here. Part of the purpose of these threads is to show when these things tend to occur. At this time last year there were 4 D1's only, so actually we are a little ahead. These tend to be the impact D1's which are signed earliest. By 2/1/2013 we will be closing in on the 73 total from 2012. There are more D1's out there; we just haven't heard. Most of the D2/3's are months away. Most colleges are rather busy right now. With ESPN Rise OOC, it will be harder this year. PLease list them here if you know.

I'm as curious about these lists as the next person, but I'd caution about using them as an indication of when these things occur. Most of the players who are "committed" to D1 (and at this time, nothing more than an unofficial, nonbinding, oral agreement is possible) reached these understandings from spring of junior year to early fall of senior year (though a few may be even earlier). D3 "commitments" are not months away, they are happening now (and have been since late summer).

Because all of these commitments are informal and nonbinding (the player and school are bound only by a sense of honor), nothing is yet final. A player doesn't get to play for the school until the admissions office makes a decision and issues an acceptance letter. For early decision candidates, that happens in December. And, generally, a college coach expects his "commits" to apply early because the early decision acceptance obligates the student to attend. That way the coach knows that the player he supports will, if admitted, attend, and the coach isn't wasting his time on someone who'd really prefer to go elsewhere. There are of course exceptions to this, but this is the general practice.

The emphasis on early decision is one reason that a large bulk of commitments happen before Nov. when early decision applications are due. People don't hear about them because there's no particular reason for anyone to announce them. Talking soccer merely reflects what's in the grapevine. Once spring arrives, when everything is finalized (including letters of intent for D1 scholarship cases), most colleges announce their incoming classes. Only then can we have a really good indication of the commitments from our state.

Not to mention you'd be crazy to put your kid's name out there on this forum as it's open season for criticism. My kid committed a few months ago and you won't see his name here if I can help it.

From what I understand from my friends (this is all sports, not just soccer) the D1 "commitments" are very different from the D3's. Everything you have written above applies to D3. They are at the mercy of the admissions department even after they get a verbal, or even written, commitment from the coach. The D1's, on the other hand, are a written commitment, they are due now, the admissions office has already vetted the candidates, and the athletes are as good as admitted. So the D1 commitments can go public. The D3's need to wait until Dec. 15 when the D3 acceptances go out.
