    Soccer back in phase 2

Baker announced youth sports can resume in phase 2. Games and tournaments in phase three. What do you think this will look like? If face coverings are still required how does that work?

Ask SC what he plans then we can all follow like sheep

Practices to resume 6/8 games and tournaments to resume 6/29. So long as everything goes well.

      1. Players will be required to have their temperature taken prior to practices and games. This will likely be left to the parents.
      2. Clubs will be asked to limit the number of spectators. This will probably never come in to play except in tournaments or large venues like Lancaster. Scheduling clubs will have to space games out more so that during switches there aren’t as maybe people around.
      3. All spectators will have to wear a face covering.

Practices less than 10 people in June. Tournaments with limited fans and 6 feet apart in July. Labor Day tournaments on as scheduled. High School soccer on as scheduled!

It will be interesting to see how clubs will be able to provide practices to their thousands of paying members, in the month of June, with all the restrictions still in place. I mean, a maximum of 10 people per practice, when teams typically carry 18+ players, will be challenging to say the least. Clubs and coaches will have to run multiple practices per day/week, to satisfy their obligations to their members.

This is a joke considering that the same trainer will be interacting with most of the groups in many clubs.

I think that we should re-open, but these "safety" measures are silly.

What qualifies as a "practice?" If the policy doesn't spell that out, then you could easily say "this end of the field is a practice and that end of the field is another practice" and split the team into a group at each end. Not quite the full team practice, but they'd still all be present.

Where are you seeing all of this? I watched the press conference and read the report and all it says is that decisions about youth sports will be made in the next 4-5 weeks. Baker said the advisory board was still meeting to decide on youth sports, K-12 schools, and colleges for the fall.

Key to this is, as long as everything goes well. They said at the press conference that each phase would be a minimum of three weeks and could go back phases as well.

Best case scenario: “Some activities” for youth sports are allowed to resume.

Phases last AT LEAST 3 weeks.

Best case scenario: Games with restrictions are allowed starting June 29th.

What games would those be? People will be on vacation in Maine or NH where citizens are allowed to roam free, unencumbered by Massachusetts’ phase system.

Keep in mind that any upward fluctuation of any of their Covid measurements pushes Phase 3 out even further. My guess is that games won’t resume until Labor Day.

Guessing practices will be ok in a couple of weeks time? No games until the fall and no use of school fields until the end of June? Will clubs be allowed to use Rec facilities?

It's nice that you'll be on vacation, so you don't want anyone else to hopefully play.

Maine is not open. Educate yourself. 14 day quarantine required all summer.

Most people are NOT traveling this summer. Those kids that are grinders will be happy to stay home and play soccer while Mia and Chad hang out at some trashy campground in NH. Have fun.
