If you think you're shocking anyone with this information, I have bad news for you.
Of course people were talking about impeachment before he was sworn in. The Russian story (from which numerous indictments, guilty pleas, and convictions have resulted) had been in the public for months. Trump refused to put his companies in a blind trust rendering a violation of the emoluments clause pretty much guaranteed the second he was sworn in. The inauguration committee was already being investigated for financial malfeasance. We knew the transition team was trying to set up an illegal back channel with the Russians and his NSA-designate was an unregistered agent of Turkey. And so on.
Trump's history of shady business dealings, obvious temperamental instability, and outspoken disdain for the US Constitution (and ignorance of it) were readily apparent throughout the entire campaign. It was pretty much inevitable that he was going to bring about his own impeachment. Frankly, I'm surprised he took this long to do something so blatant it would force the Democrats' hands. Kind of impressed actually. I figured he'd step in it by early 2018 at the latest.
The spin from the GOP that this is an effort to overturn the election is preposterous. If that were the case, an impeachment and removal by the Senate, would result in a Clinton presidency and it doesn't. Pence, a Republican who was on the ticket with Trump, becomes president. Funny how the spluttering GOPers in the House didn't bother bringing that up on the floor yesterday.
