    Well done, Coach!

As I sit comfortably in my warm car listening to the the radio 100 yards away there is a lone Coach standing in the middle of the field along with 10 youngsters kicking around a ball in the cold, wind and rain. Sounds crazy...looks even crazier, but this Coach is my childs’ coach and he is out there voluntarily getting drowned in the rain just so my child can develop their skills and play with friends. Coach isn’t getting paid, not asking for any praise, and doesn't owe any of us any favours.

As far as I'm concerned Coach is a saint and whatever he wants/says goes if he's prepared to give up his free evenings and weekends to run around in the rain with my child.

Please remember this next time you have a moan about game time, training schedules, kit colour, the position your son/daughter has been put in...remember it's probably you, like me, sat in the car and not standing out on the pitch and I'm sure you know where you’d rather be!

If you want to have a say get your boots on and get out there and join that coach, if not pipe down and continue to listen to the radio on your comfy heated seats. This isn't the premiership, we don't have posh dug outs and oversized umbrellas that someone can hold over us...this is grassroots football and I sir, stood out there on the pitch in the rain salute you!

Can My kid play with yours? you say you only have 10 out there so there is room on the roster right??

Cause I'll be honest our coach is a turd that cancels practice for light rain, instructs very little with the kids other than "push up" and and "AAAAAHHHHGHH" when the kids screw up, favors the two or three parents that have their lips glued to his ass, and constantly reminds you about his A licence. Takes a salary and charges for extra training that you have a distinct impression will have a direct effect on playing time. Sadly this seems to be far a far more common occurrence than the situation in which you have found yourself!

I mean I would try to step up and coach but between my lack of knowledge and the mouth of a drunken sailor I have proven in my sons younger years, coaching youth soccer is not my calling!

So seriously can we join!!?? we will bring a tent for the kids to the games!!

You lost me at him being in the middle of a field in the wind, cold and rain. The kids will get sick and how can you teach anything under those conditions? The coach is an idiot and you are a bigger idiot for letting it happen.

After dealing with the heat over the past month in Jacksonville, Atlanta and Orlando, I'd kill to be out there in a little cold wind and rain!

It might have been cold in FLA back in the 70's, but since then....not so much. Maybe they should flip the story....Dad coach is sweating his balls off in the heat while I am sitting in the car with the AC on taking a nap...

I a few years Florida will be underwater due to Climate Change, so this story will have to take place in Kentucky or North Alabama, or wherever all you refugees from Florida will be moving to.

Climate change is the biggest existential threat of our time.

If you own any land that you think will be under water you should sell it now for cheap. Better than getting nothing for it later on.
