    What's everyone think of a team in a Bronze bracket winning 10-0. Sandbagging comes to mind or maybe it's a good time to implement a more complicated strategy to ensure some competition.

    Are there people that would actually win 10-0 in bronze than lose 1-0 in Super final?

    If you are talking about the Hawaii u11 girls team, I would be inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. This is likely a brand new team and they weren't sure what they had. They also didn't know the skill level of the other u11 teams. There's no history there to compare for the most part. Yeah it sucks to lose or win 10-0 (winning sucks slightly less obviously). But I wouldn't jump to conclusions about sandbagging or their intentions. My two players have played various Hawaii teams over the years and I've never seen a pattern of playing down for easy wins. Usually the Hawaii teams that come to Oregon just aren't very good - that's why they are here. They good Hawaii teams are at Surf Cup.

      Also in fairness to Hawaii it's a "silver-bronze" bracket. The u11 girls only have two brackets. Gold/silver and silver/bronze.

      And while I am totally speculating here I think it's hilarious that a Lake O parent (potentially) came on here and complained about an 09 game result.

        It's something I've seen over the years and have never really been sure what to think or how to handle myself. I understand showing up and really not knowing what to expect. I saw some crazy scores at nike cup, the teams mentioned aren't the only ones that ran up some scores.

        I've called out my "peers" who have signed up for lower tournaments in the past and it seems they "forgot" or made a mistake. More like busted IMO.

        I've had 5-0 games I could have doubled it and I changed up players strategy, etc. I've been on the other end once and the other coach did something similar. It was my fault, I was in the wrong league.

        Premier U14 and up, you kinda put yourself in a position to compete. If you can't, and you have a full squad, it's not fair to the other team to be unable to stop up to about 6 goals. After 9-0, that's maybe enough.

        I had a coach quip under their breath my team was a "kick and chase team" once so I unleashed my players and layed some hate. Looking back, probably not the most mature way to handle that....

        IMO. It's better for your team to lose 2-1 in the highest level than win 10-0. But at the same time, if all you do is lose 2-1, you need to drop down.

          You are bound to have those games every now and then. Especially a tournament.

          Don’t lose your **** over one game when you are going to witness many as a parent.

          Fact: You have mediocre teams from here flying to play in a da Ecnl xyz elite whatever leagues to lose 9-0 8-0 every game sometimes.

          At least you didn’t pay 1k for your kid to do it that trip.

              In few things does goal differential matter. Most tournaments around here are capped at 4. TTL it matters but TTL doesn't matter. OSAA HS GD matters.

              Sandbagging is no class IMO.

                I’ve heard of a few bracket adjustments by the tournament as well. People signed up for Gold and they got dropped to silver. Might explain why ADF 10B is in silver. They always sign up for the top bracket.

                  Last years Capitol Cup. 13-0 in the Bronze Bracket. Um, *** is wrong with you if you think that's a good score line.

                    Checking scores from Southside Shootout. 16-0 in the U10 girls. Seriously, who the F things that's good. Lemme guess, long balls and a speedy forward.

                      That's part of the problem - U little teams have no history, making it harder for organizers to determine where to put teams. Of course, there's no need to run up the score. That's a d bag move on the part of the coach. No one learns anything from a game like that. Hopefully the winning side's parents sopped clapping after it hit 5-0.

                        Here's what it guarantees. Those teams that got blown out won't come back. The big tournaments will get bigger, the smaller ones....like Southside will get smaller.

                        Probably a good idea to have a blowout rule at these tournaments and allow the referee to enforce it. Losing team can add a player, winning team go left foot, something like that it.

                          Coaches can (and should) manage it themselves. Move players to new positions, take stronger players out if need be, give the GK field time, play keep away, whatever

                              Don’t be silly. Parents still whoop, holler, and cheer like their kid’s scholarship rides on this particular game when the score is 8-0. Parents are the worst.
