    Developmental Academy Death Pool

Who wants in on the death pool?

Lots of rumors and speculation around here. Regionally it looks very likely that NYCFC might be done on the girls side. Players scrambling to get looks at World Class and PDA. Here in New England lots of talk about NEFC looking to the ECNL. If those two go, lights are out in the Northeast. My money is on one more year and only because CA and Texas have been reasonably successful.

On the boys side if MLS clubs pull out this thing is toast.

Reset button probably needs to be hit on the USSF

I thought SOCAL was also thinking about making their own regional league and being done with everyone. They have enough talent and population to build 8-12 super teams per age group within a 3-hour drive of LA.

      Is the end near?

Not sure if the end is near, but over the last five days several things have happened.

      1) MLS potentially leaving DA
      2) EDP getting the okay from US soccer to have DA clubs participate in their showcases/tournaments
      3) Announcement that Minnesota Thunder Academy is leaving BDA for ECNL

      http://www.boysecnl.com/2019/01/boys...019-20-season/

What will happen next. January is a little early to see such changes taking place for next season. Normally see these kind of announcements in April/May. I think the early leaking of information is meant to sway other clubs into pulling out of DA. Probably 1/3 to 1/2 of Boys DA clubs would be better suited to play in ECNL type league. MLS clubs have very different needs for their academy teams and holding up the DA program is not their goal.

I think 4-6 more clubs like Minnesota will leave DA for next season.

The real question is will MLS Clubs pull out or force a drastic change to how the DA operates. MLS Academy teams make DA a somewhat legit program. With out them, why bother.

Ugg. Lucky. They should totally do that.

Good. That will help us all. If those clubs are out - no one else will travel to the west to play what is left over and we can stop this nonsense.

Why not make all clubs ECNL? NYCFC, NEFC, OW? No thanks! Love to have some of their top players but would rather see a selective league.

The better clubs in CA and Texas also have ECNL affiliations still

Is PDA currently in ECNL or DA? And what does this mean for our two Connecticut DA programs?

Will Fairfield county parents still keep paying the 4K + for beachside without the DA badge? My guess is MK will finally succumb and try to merge with someone which will be so sweet to watch. Will prove everyone he couldn’t keep it going alone.
