    Old Lyme going after Immaculate.

Article posted a couple days before Class S final. Looks like the Old Lyme coach has a few gripes with CIAC and Immaculate.

Whiner coach needs to shut up and just have his team play. Given who Old Lyme graduated, they have done very well to earn a spot in the final. Enjoy that and stfu.

He’s right. It’s BS. There’s no way Immaculate should be in Class S

Say what you want about SJ but at least they are in LL or L.

      I’m embarrassed for Immaculate

Funny thing is Old Lyme advertise for kids to attend the school from out of town because of low enrollment. They say they provide "a private school experience in a public school setting " They even have a kid from Clinton on the team who is top 3.

Let me just help them out here. There is one glaring hole in their argument. Just because a school draws from 28 different towns, doesn’t mean they are drawing athletes or soccer players. If they have the same enrollment as Old Lyme, then they are drawing from the same potential number of players. Not like they give athletic scholarships. Secondly, the Old Lyme kids have the advantage of having played together for many years, where Immaculate kids likely for only a couple.

So shove the stupidity. Here’s hoping IHS smashes this loud mouth idiot into obvlion where he belongs. Esther!!!! It’s the big one!!!! In this case, PG the modern day Fred G Sanford, the G stands for “gobbledygook”.

Since Old Lyme has done so well for the past few years, shouldn't that move up?

                  1. How do you know that IHS is not giving financial aid to get soccer players to attend there instead of their normal public school? Are you privy to the financial offerings that IHS makes to prospective students?

                  2. Where do all these Old Lyme kids play together for years at? The players from Old Lyme come together in high school at the same time the kids from IHS come together. Season starts and ends are clearly defined by the CIAC. Don't tell me you are claiming that some town program or town travel team gives an advantage. Where do you think those IHS kids play their club soccer?

As long as any school has the ability to lure and enroll players from multiple communities as opposed to public schools which cannot recruit at all and are bound by the confines of the local zip code, there is an inherent unfairness that leans to the school of choice. Whether a school takes advantage or not, it is a structural unfairness.

All schools of choice should play in their own league. The preps do it. The tech schools do it. Tell me why that would not be a fairer structured system.

Maybe you should go read the rules on this and you'll know why.

Why not complain about NWC or St Pauls oh!!! because they didn’t get in this year? Let’s only complain about a team that is going to be playing them. Just give all kids metals, we have gotten so soft.

These low div 1 programs should ask to have there own national championships because they cant beat the big boys (ND Stanford etc...)!

                            1. Yes. I know for a fact that they don’t. I used to work in the BPort Diocese that all schools fall under. They barely have need based aid. Don’t confuse Catholic schools with Prep schools like Choate, Loomis, Pomfret...

                            2. The OL kids went to middle school together did they not? Some probably play club together. Private school kids might have gone to 28 different middle schools.

                            3. They aren’t luring players. They are luring students. Many do not play a sport. There is also the disadvantage of cost. Many families can not afford it so that limits the pool considerably.

Same size school. No scholarships. Just because they come from a number of different towns you think that’s an advantage? That’s a silly argument. Now what would be unfair is a school twice the size competing against smaller schools. They have far more students to draw from. Old Lyme also draws from more than one town. Maybe they shouldn’t be allowed in S either. Lol. They’ve won three straight titles. Stop crying. What’s unfair are schools getting moved up into L and LL that are not schools of those size who may never win a title, while little crap kicker teams get to hoist a plaque. That’s the real travesty.
