Look at the youth academies in Europe, they are being coached by former world superstars hoping to make it as a coach on a pro team. They develop one player and sell him for millions , they program is funded for years.
So it’s cool not to pay anything but that’s a bandaid if our goal is to get great at soccer.

Poster is on point. It’s ALWAYS about the money.
Do you think those European Academies are altruistic and just want to help kids excel at soccer? Of course not. They are looking for a return on investment when a player makes it and they can be compensated.
Until MLS academies can see a real return on investment in the form of compensation for a player, there is no real incentive to invest in young players. Whats their return? Homegrown status on player? Please
MLS investment in their academy will be little more than branding and local PR. I guess, some extremely deep pocketed owners may do more, but they are the exception.

The state of American soccer : Winning is an American value. And thank god for that. Americans will send their kids to academies because they want to win. They will pay to win. The will drive to win. Americans are used to paying for sports. They will gladly pay to be on a team where the talent is the best. Americans Chase the good teams and chase the points. It’s all the same. And there is nothing wrong with that so long as you have good coaching. There is no patent on good coach as much as the French and the Italians claim that there is. if you have talent it shows. This is not a complicated sport if you have talent. It will show anywhere you play. But you always pay. The idea of changing child labor law or contract law for soccer in America is a pipe dream. So put down the pipe and pay to play. If you kid has it he has it. Moving to Europe or South America means free soccer for the select few. But there you pay in a lot of other ways. So shut up and pay to play!

“This is the best we have so if you don’t like then leave.”
With that mentality, nothing would ever be improved. No innovation or development would ever occur.

Inter Miami DA will improve the landscape for youth soccer in south florida simple.
Broward ,Dade counties will be the first wave of youth players to tryout for the academy period. The other Non MLS DA clubs will have to try and merge with more local clubs to stay alive . This will water down this NON MLS DA structure and a few will fall off and be gone.
A club will need great leadership to make it in the years to come its comes down to the numbers. Clubs will have to fine Rich Kids to support its life or its over.
