    UConn women’s soccer

UConn is not looking anywhere near a good side. Disorganized to say the least. I get the hire of MR to be the head coach but what is the problem ?

I’m not that familiar with their roster or conference, but I heard they lost two of their best players (internationals) before the season started. If true, that is tough for any team to overcome against good competition.

Given how strong ECNL and GDA are, how could UCONN's best players possibly be from another country where women's soccer is an afterthought after carrying water back from the river and doing laundry?

CCSU does the same thing. Spend money on INTs. Get CT kids on the cheap. Fill in with some others. Now, UConn is a more national draw than CCSU, but the conference shake up really hurt their recruiting.

They are the best players BECAUSE they carry water on their backs and do laundry. The US college players are the offspring of people like yourself. Entitled, low level players paying money to their ECNL & DA clubs in order to be "showcased".

            You Americans. SMH.

Are you not American? Do you live in America/do your children live and play soccer here? I’ll assume yes to these questions since you’re posting on this forum. Listen, go back to wherever you came from if you’re not happy. There will be one less know it all Euro Dad on the sidelines imparting his wisdom to all of us who didn’t play “semi-pro” back in the day.

International players have been a thing on the men's side for awhile and is still growing. Despite having BDA for ten years our players often get passed by players who aren't quite good enough to go pro abroad but (mostly) are better trained and skilled. Sometimes they use it as a launching pad for MLS (half last year's rookie picks were internationals). They get top $ to play because they pretty much can go to college for free back home. Now it's becoming more of a thing on the women's side.

On the men’s side it’s been happening since at least the 80’s. Nothing new.

Yeah, it's a scam. NCAA should limit all colleges to max 2 internationals.

Why should they do that? Should they do it in hockey and basketball as well?

Nah. Just soccer. My kids don't play those other sports. They should do it to give our kids more experience and opportunity and strengthen our national teams, the same way the Prem pushes English players to start to bolster England's play (but we would do it more effectively).

How do you do it from a legal standpoint?

Nope. Coaches should have the ability to take whoever they want to help them win. That's how it works. Well to the big show buttercup; your corporate career will be similar.
