GDA won't fix what ails us.

ECNL started out with the right intentions, but like everything else in the USA, it's now about the $$ and has so much corruption and rule breaking because coaches need to 'win'

Spain La Liga clubs sponsor women teams. In addition, there is a very competitive women soccer league in Spain with promotions and relegations. As a consequence the level of girls soccer in Spain has grown significantly.

That may be true, but this had nothing to do with GDA. These players have been in the ynt system for years and half of them were already in college.

That's because the rest of the world is catching up and the USA is allowing a lot of their talent to slipped thru the cracks and forcing players to play for other countries instead of the USA because of their parents or grandparents place of birth.

Gap is definitely closing. You can see it from the full team on down the age groups.

As Europe starts to invest and have more resources attributed to the girls side...it won’t be long until they over take us.

I wouldn't say that they overtake us, but I will say that they will finally be able to compete with us. We will still be one of, if not, the best in the world, just now it will be more interesting. What you will see though, is the US Men making a big jump to be able compete consistently with the best mens teams in the world. So guess what, not only can we kick the rest of worlds ass with our economy, technology, innovation, arts, music, military, etc..... now we will be dominant in the only thing Europe has over us right now. How do you like those crepes, Eurosnob???

This is a consequence of the system. While the soccer in USA is focused in runners and strong players, there won't be advance. Soccer is for soccer players.

Absolutely Correct. If it was just about putting together the best athletes and runners, Jamaica would be the best team in the world. If you've watched them, its like watching a team of Usain Bolts; but that's not soccer. You gotta be able to do all that physically and mentally, WITH a ball at your feet and that makes all the difference.

As for the US women, its simple really. We enjoy the most liberated women in the world and the most young girls participating in sports in the world. As the rest of the world leaves that machismo behind and more and more girls start playing sports at younger ages in their own countries, they will certainly catch up.

Not only that, but in this country, there is talent that is just ignored or never seen or scouted because of the money factor. So what you end up getting representing the US is basically the best of those that can afford to play, which significantly narrows the talent pool. And that is not going to change anytime soon, if ever.

The only reason it makes a difference in other sports is simply because those less fortunate kids that have made it to the highest levels in football, baseball, or basketball and even soccer overseas....they go back and give to their communities. But what can a female soccer player really give back to her community when she's paid peanuts?? Awareness??

I hate to say it. but Hope Solo was right in a sense. She said soccer in the US is for rich white kids. I wouldn't say rich white kids like she did, because there are rich latino kids and rich black kids , and rich Asian kids too; but definitley for kids whose famiies have the means for them to play. And with wealth or more importantly disposable income being the largest factor in who is able to participate in ECNL or GDA and who can't; then like I said before the only players playing for the US are the best of those that can afford it.

Why compare the males and females? Male side has dozens of fully funded academy programs. When the girls get that, then make your comparisons. Gda and bda are nothing alike.
