    Dirty play

Unless the rules are better written and enforced, great players are going to be lost.

Why are we listening to Lalas? is anybody old enough to remember the type of player he was?

Neymar is a drama queen. And would it hurt him to get his teammates involved a little more often. As much as he was fouled, he lost the ball on his own too many times for a "great" player

Neymar was intentionally hurt in the last World Cup. This is a real problem with soccer.

He and his fellow drama queens are why dribbling should never be taught

Can't have a player being fouled 10 times in match. Direct kicks are not enough.

This attitude is why soccer in the US will never flourish. Until you realize that soccer should be played differen from football and basketball where speed, strength and burst mean everything, we will never produce great players like Neymar, Ronaldo or Messi.

You mean like in the MLS? Yah, that's real futbol. They should probably take away passing and shooting as well, will make the game a lot more fun to watch.

Well they did get 3 yellow cards. Is that enough? How many fouls were committed by each swiss player? If all 10 fouls were done by the same 3 players, maybe one of them should have been red-carded. In any case, Switzerland will pay for those card and fouls in later matches, as any 2 yellows a player accumulates will result in a single match suspension in group & knockout stage. I'm sure referees will be on the look out for this type of play from Switzerland in future games.

It's a risky strategy for sure by the Swiss, but it paid off in the short-term. Now they will have to deal with the long-term potential damage.

Many of the commentators where saying that the refereeing was stronger in prior WC matches and that particular center referee was not holding back too much in regards to the fouling.

As to the decision to foul, consider a loss here a big hole to dig out of in the group stage. A draw, in part due to shutting down the attacking play of Brazil's impact player by fouling was risky, but well worth the result they achieved.

Can this really be called a strategy, or is it cheap, dirty play? They hit him right when he got the ball. It was calculated, and what is in place to deter this crap...Sergio Ramos style. It's not soccer and should not be tolerated within the laws of the game.

                      Don’t misread.
No dribbling, which is entirely different than first touch.
The game is played best with 2 and 3 touch. Watch the game. No dribbling except for the show offs. Messi dribbled into trouble numerous times and Neymar has never seen a dribble he didn’t like. We just watch the highlights.
All three have amazing burst speed to beat opponents and their strength is fantastic, but passing wins matches.

I agree that passing wins games, but some great counterattacks occur on the dribble. A team should not be able to haul a player down and diffuse a counterattack without consequence. What does a direct kick do for me in the backfield?

Huge difference between open field, take your space runs at speed with ball in front than what we see the more selfish players do, even if they’re great

A yellow card should be given in seven instances including unsporting behavior and persistent infringement. Unsporting behavior includes committing fouls for tactical purposes of interfering or breaking up a promising attack. It was clear that Switzerland was going to foul Neymar as soon as he got the ball. While the laws of the game do not cover if persistent infringement applies to multiple players tag teaming an opponent, it should. What is the point of having vague laws of the game and open interpretations when referees cannot consistently get it right? Allowing teams to control a game with dirty tactics is not what soccer should be about. Time to turn the laws and interpretations into rules with consequences for dirty play.

The referee could have been stronger but Brazil has to play tougher as well. Are they still crying about the nudge in the back on the Swiss goal? Historically, Brazil are front runners and look great when they have a lead. But get them in a rock fight and they tighten up
