my kid didn't get selected for next years GDA team, the showcase is at the end of this month, we already signed with a non gda team, I havnt paid anything yet for the showcase, just verbally committed to going 2 months ago.... im curious to hear what the consequences will be if we just don't go? besides being labeled a jackazzzz etc etc, can the club do anything that will affect my kid for next years non gda team?

OP - don't listen to this jackazz. Don't go. Don't spend the time and money, and chances are your player would hardly play. It isn't worth it, especially for her emotional health (really, who wants to play for a team you've been cut from?). The club doesn't expect you to go and reasonable parents would totally understand. The team will likely have enough players and even if they don't they can probably pull in another player.

Rehab is for quitters, not soccer.

It's a two way street. If a player is not asked back, why would a club want them to be in a tournament unless they are desperately short of players? Forcing them to do something is worse, akin to having to work after you got fired. Are you really going to give it your all knowing you've been let go. I would never expect a player to participate in an event if they're being shown the door. If they want it then the club is obligated to let them, but not many would. Use the roster spot to pull up a younger or B team player. Plus, this is DA with limited sub rules. Is a cut player going to get any playing time? No.

A reputable club will not hold it against you especially since your daughter was not selected for next years team. This is common in ECNL and GDA for kids who did not make next years team to be "on the hook" for the summer showcase. Be glad you did not pay and I am sure one of the players who is going to be on the next years team will be happy to go in her place. Do not lose a second of sleep over it.

They have pre-season to get ready for plus enjoy the last of their summers before college starts. Let the younger, non recruited players play on U17 teams so they can get recruited if they haven't yet.
