    Making the most of CO

Congrats to all the teams going to Colorado for NPL Finals and National Cup.
Any advice from those who have been there before? Have at it...
fun team activities? elevation impact? College Coach attendance, parent fun?

Denver is awesome, tons to do. There will be very few coaches there. Yes the lack of oxygen takes getting used to. Hydration is critical there for elevation, heat and dry air.

Denver is gross, smells of urine and weed, lots of homeless, rest of CO is beautiful,go out and enjoy it

Kids didn't seemed fazed by the altitude ,most parents were for a day or so

Coach's will be the same in number as a 2nd or 3rd bracket big tournament, have your kid reach out to all he or she is interested in

Downtown Denver does have some drawbacks, like any big city, and some fun things to do. Day trip to Boulder is a must, and there are many cool hikes you can plan. Hotels are a crap shoot and some look at VRBO - especially if team is there for 2 weeks.

Dick's sells and usually sells out of oxygen cans (can't fly with pressurized container), consider a few as a security blanket for team, but not really necessary.

As for coaches, they will be there, and outreach is a must but understand that DA and ECNL are splitting them up end of June/early July. Then they head to Surf Cup end of July, try to squeeze in one of their own camps, maybe a week for themselves and then it's pre-season. CO is secondary priority for 1st tier colleges and gets squeezed out.

As my player would say, this is a business trip, not a vacation. Every time we went to nationals the focus was on the soccer - preparation, games, rest/recovery. Other than team dinners there isn't much time for fun while the games are going on and the goal is to play until the last day or two.

As for college coaches, hopefully you aren't expecting a showcase-like turnout. Here is the list from last year's NPL Nationals... not exactly impressive for either the boys or the girls...

If no coaches will be there then have fun FFS. Before you know it they're off to college and you'll regret missed opportunities.

23 Coaches registered for last year in Indy on Women's side. Just had 3x that just one game during PDA. As another poster said "FFS" go have fun.

These are KIDS and this is a GAME. No one needs to treat it as a business trip. Go, play your absolute hardest, try to win...and have, gasp, fun. They're young once and I swear to you, 20 years from now you aren't going to be sitting around wishing you took youth soccer more seriously.

Facilities are very nice. Altitude is a factor. There will be no coaches that don't live in Co. Try the Bison steak

Interesting that the coaches list is much more impressive on the men's side.
