However, the reality is kids get hurt, sometimes with season ending injuries or get pulled to go to Nationals. Then your player will get to have a more playtime.
Large rosters are meant to develop more kids to a certain level so that there is little drop off from the starting 11 to the relief 11. In reality, they are assurance down the line for injuries.
If your player is there for the training no big deal. If playtime is an issue for your player, then it will probably get old and my experience is 1/2 of those relief 11 typically asked to get moved back down to a team where they will play more or be released to another club.

Would you knowingly buy oversold airplane tickets? Only if you are friends with the airline staff and assured a seat.
One year rationalizing and explaining to your kid that the other 16 kids are better, but that he needs to keep trying? Paying full price without the right to travel out of town and play?
Want college coaches to always see you in the bench?
Good luck with your decision. It all depends on your self-awareness of how good is your kid.

They will try to sell you the whole DA thing but in reality they will never give your kid a look. He has a better chance coming in from the outside.
Don't fall for it.

I was in the meeting, as much as I like to bash Jerome, he said they “could” roster that many, not that they would. He said 15-16 is what he wants to do . The rest of the roster will be DP players that primarily play on another team.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostI'd leave the club. Seriously, who rosters 24 players - that's more than two full teams! This is a recipe for disaster. The coach has no time to coach everyone in practice, the kids who are left behind when the team goes to games and tournaments lose interest and become dead weight (their parents also become a problem because they paying for nothing) and the whole team dynamic turns to ****, with the kids fighting with each other over playing time, the coaches attention, etc. In no time at all you will have two informal "teams" the coaches favorites, who get to travel and play, and the money bitches, who pay for others to play. This is an especially bad dynamic for younger kids or when kids who get playing time don't regularly attend practice. No team should roster more than 15-16 kids imho.
