I met her...she seems like a nice enough woman and obviously has a players perspective having played at UCONN.

Realistically though, who did you think their national search was going to surface. It is freaking Storrs after all and this isn't hoops. Connecticut is headed toward bankruptcy. More companies are fleeing the high tax state then are coming to CT, cutting the corporate subsidizes to the tax rolls and taking the productive wealthy (Under a democrat definition) taxpayers with them. Massive underfunded pension and health care costs. MAjor cities in financial disarray and sub par infrastructure. Just got the Red State kiss of death from Trump and the Republicans with the new SALT limitations. It is only a matter of time before UCONN gets hit harder than they already have by budget cuts from the state. Staff will be cut and scholarships reduced.

Personally, I would much rather coach at Trinity, Conn College, Wesleyan, Yale, Fairfield, even QU, than Uconn. If she has any success, she will be swooped up by a better program in a few years if she has such ambitions

At least Uconn has traditionally put money into its womans soccer program. Umass could care less. only person who would take the job is someone so removed from the area he has no idea what he is getting into. Hopefully he toured the facilities otherwise would have to question his judgement. Uconn has already made a significant investment and will continue support the program. MR to me is a curious hire moving forward. The coach retired so it didn't leave the bad taste of the inevitable firing that would of occurred over the next couple of years. MR was involved in the downward spiral of talent and her elevation to head coach will not improve her judgement.
