Weston GDA lied to us.... now what?

My family was informed when we were recruited to Weston that our daughter could play HS (as she plays on a school that "recruited" her), by MP. We were told that she could play both, but now we have been given an ultimatum. Her and the majority of the team has been doing both GDA and HS at the same time the last few weeks. And now suddenly they aren't allowed to do both, and threatened with missing the GDA showcase. I have seen multiple threads, but does anyone know the actual rules. Can my daughter do both?

        There is this thread http://talking-soccer.com/TS4/showth...151225&page=12

        and this one http://talking-soccer.com/TS4/showth...151191&page=24

both have rules posted as well as a response from USSF regarding it all. You're going to have to read through it. But, no she cannot do both. It is one or the other. Period. If your club told you differently that means they are desperate for players. Tell them to f'off and let your daughter decide what she wants to do. If you're just posting this to try and break the rules then you should question your parenting

Thank you for the information, not trying to break any rules, just puts my daughter in a very difficult position. We have emails explaining our situation before making the decision and MP assured us it wasn't a problem. Awful management on Weston and MP.

Not the OP, but I inquired about the waiver and they said they had to be in by Sept. 1. Weston completely manipulated the situation by lying to our families.

Shady, manipulative, and desperate for players. You name the reason and it's inexcusable by weston.

The waivers do not allow you to do both at the same time. They allow you to be "removed" from the development academy roster during the HS soccer season (and preumably put back on at the end of the HS season. Although there was confusion initially with USSF whether waivers would be allowed, they never would allow a player to play both HS and DA at the same time.

Rostering a player for both is not hard at all. You just have to go to your high school coach and say you are unavailable and DA will roster you and when you want to play high school go to the club and say unroster you. It's not like they have a million replacements they will accept players back please don't be fooled.

I know players that will nut be missing the showcase and still playing high school. DA make exception for their "better players".

Those are players cheating on the rule. If you want to play high school soccer you do it for the entire season like every other high school soccer player.

There are always ways around the rules in life but what is that teaching our youth?

Which rules are you referring to exactly? You seem to be mixing Florida HS rules and DA rules.

DA simply says you cannot play HS and DA events or practices at the same time. If you play HS, you cant play DA. Once DA is over or a player decides to play HS (with club permission until 2021, then waiver thing kicks in) they can.

There is no FHSAA rule that I know of that says a player cannot join a team later in the year. There may be a rule on the number of games necessary to qualify to play in the championship or playoffs but I have not been able to find it. That decision falls on the HS coach, AD or principal.
