The problem areas in soccer for kids are:

    • No longer the children’s game – soccer is controlled by adults
    • We see the same children on the bench or omitted every game
    • Coaches and parents screaming from the touchlines
    • Too much winning focus – before fun and development
    • Not enough free play where children can solve their own problems
    • Children are not encouraged to express themselves
    • Children no longer learn about the spirit of the game for themselves

Give the kids their game back!

Money, Money, Money. As soon as it became a business, this was bound to be the result.

And it's really no different in any youth sport

I agree with you and have felt your pain, but there is always recreational leagues if competitive play has lost its allure.

The advantage of so many leagues and clubs is there are options out there for everybody - price, competitive level, club size etc. It isn't necessarily good for the sport but it gives families more choices

Parent had mess up the game.
All they want is winning and if the team is no winning, bye bye! ... next club

Yes on so many levels. Daddy Ball being one of the biggest offenders. Nepotism, favoritism and club relationship kill a team and club when the practice is allowed on multiple age groups.

Parent coaching has a place in all sports.

Yes it does, while the kids are young and most certainly at the recreation level. I have done it and it is a thankless job.

However, when kids reach a certain level competitively, they should be handed off to a qualified and hopefully unbiased coach. I have sat back and watched teams get picked to support their kids position. I have seen Daddy's kid stay in while the two Regional players were sat because coaches where watching. I have seen Daddy's best friend kid stay on a team at the expense of other more talented kids (and no I am not talking about my kid, I got watch this for 4 years).

Finally had the team taken but still involved WAY too much. Coach if you want, just not your kid after a certain point.

                        Some clubs worse than others.

If you see a daddy coach at ages above 12 you know you have a problem.
On a separate note what kind of man "fixes" things for his kid, rather than teaching his kid to earn their take on their own? Have absolutely no respect for these pathetic people. Want the DA spot? Then work hard and earn it.

When you look at the DA teams that play daddy ball, they seem always to be lower level teams that finish at the bottom of the Southeastern Conference every season in the older age groups.
