    Why travel past NY/NJ/PA?

The overwhelming majority of kids from MA go to college within an 8 hour drive from home.

The overwhelming majority of kids playing soccer will not play college soccer.

Why, then, should any MA team travel beyond NY/NJ/PA to play soccer?

95% of the coaches from the schools kids would target aren't scouting in FL, or TX, or CA.

What's the point of flying to distant tournaments?

    What am I missing?

See GPS Thanksgiving Showcase College Coaches attendee list vs. CASL
See Scorpion Bowl College Coach attending vs. Jefferson Cup

You should bring your beef up with the college coaches. Best of luck.

Jeff is easily drivable. CASL coaches attending are pedestrian.

Need to leave the northeast to find suitable competition.

Please tell us what team. Is there a team out there dominating across the board and undefeated in a few years? That being said, I'm all for the occasional drive to NJ, MD, VA for a big tourney, or a National Championship somewhere. But please no need to leave NE for a league game.

597 coaches last year registered. What did GPS have 14?

Parents drinking the koolaid, chasing the dream, living vicariously through their kids. You name it.

Kids just want to play. And play for fun.

Most parents are ruining their kids childhood and love for soccer.

Say they make it to D1. What comes after? A job. Just like everyone else.

If you went to CASL it was for assistantant coaches from pedestrian schools. Where is your kid playing college soccer? Stonehill?

The supposed adults running all the leagues and for profit clubs take more of the blame. There's some parental blame, but most parents are just trying to get through it and support their kid's interests.

My sideline must be different than yours. And if this forum is any indication....

Everyone seems to be talking about DAP, ECNL, NPL. Best teams. Best players.

The reality is that most kids, even strong players, will do fine and be happy on a region A team.

Very few players want to put in the work, time, travel, commitment to play at the higher levels.

My kid is 12 and teammates parents were going crazy getting their kid to the next level for next year. One kid said his favorite sport is baseball but that he had to quit for soccer.

Now these kids will be traveling 1.5 hours to and from practice multiple times a week. They will be giving up more weekends to travel for soccer.

I'm curious to see where they are 3 years from now.

These kids should be allowed to be kids.

Ultimately parents call the shots and write the chrcks. If they say no and dial it back in large numbers eventually clubs will adjust their offerings. But parents aren't. So they can't complain. If you're going to jump into the fray they have to accept the good and the bad.

Btw even at the DA level very few travel the kind of distances you describe. Most '- not all - families have some degree of sanity. In middle school there starts to be a separation of the wheat from the chaff. Players and families decide what to focus on - some will scale back and play locally, some drop soccer altogether for another sport, some go all in. If your son is your oldest you'll see soon enough. Soccer isn't alone in this phenomenon either
