Yelling at referees is hurting our children

    http://www.switchingthefield.com/yel...-children.html

Great article. One of our team rules is r-e-s-p-e-c-t . At practice huddles, we discuss what it means to respect the other team, the refs, parents and each other.

The refs wouldn't have to get worried about getting yelled at if they took pride in their work and got fit so they could make the right calls.

I'll remember this the next time some overweight, lazy piece of sh*t ref that speaks 3 words of English and refuses to walk outside of the center circle allows a game to get out of hand with obvious penalties. Yep, total respect for that guy.

Seriously, think about how bad someone has to suck at life to get a job as a referee. Even Walmart workers get paid better.

I agree with this response. .... but to Original poster, you must have a young child or haven't had experiences with many reffed games. If your child plays in a somewhat competitive league you will experience refs- especially side-line ones, that DO NOT know the game of soccer and wait to make any calls based on the center ref? There are tons of games with missed offside calls and fouls/no fouls inside the penalty box or just outside- most games are within a 1goal margin which is often the result of an nonqualied ref.

Most sideline refs don't know that they can raise their flag without permission of the center ref. Seriously. I have had that conversation with several of them.

I don't see anything wrong yelling at the refs, happens everywhere the difference is how you do it , no need to use foul language or disrespect the ref .even professional refs make mistakes so yell all you want respectfully.

If you have EVER been asked to leave a sideline by an official - you are an A Hole. More than once.....flaming A Hole.

                  Sincerely,

You obviously have never seen some biased mall cop wannabe homer toss someone for saying call it both ways one time.

Clearly you have no idea - beyond rec refs can make $40-$70/game. Even my kid gets $25 doing rec. It's not enough for an adult to make a living off of but it's a nice supplement to other work. Hustle and you can make $250 a weekend no problem

Clearly YOU have no idea. In our mens league the center gets 50 and the linesman gets 25 for 2 hour timeslots. The kids is like 30-40 for the center and 10-20 for the linesman still 2 hour timeslots. But theyre 1099 so they pay way more taxes and buy their uniforms and pay the FYSA class fee. Plus you get more hours in one shot at Walmart so less gas money.

I'm sure that was it. Here's a guarantee, most of your own team parents were glad to see you go. And one more thing....there is no way your kid is any good. It's always the average to below average player that has the loud mouth for a mom or dad.

There are plenty of bad refs and sadly they don't know it but none of them wake up and say 'I'm going to screw little Johnny today'.

So naive. Home team chooses the refs. Refs better make the home team happy.

ok parents who also love to complain about the cost of soccer. so let's pay a lot more for really professional and in shape refs so you can all be happy and never have a complaint about a ref any more. because this reasonably priced officiating for kids games is sometimes messing with your ability to be an ******* on this forum and brag about a win when it went to other team because of bad officiating. maybe if you would start tipping the refs (in advance), things would go more your way.
