Why are most FL soccer parents so clueless ???

....Paying all sorts of fees to 90% of the clubs that sell them on development while the DOC drives up to the fields for 5 min on his new BMW.

Jacking up prices every year with promises of a scholarship and who knows what other BS they're selling. Most parents in this state are suckers.

At least 50% of the clubs in FL should fold or merge at the very least. There just aren't enough good coaches or DOC's who know *** they're doing....

    Tell me I'm lying....

Many don't understand the game at all. They only understand where Johnny or Suzy are in the game or out. It hurts the ego during and after the games for the parents personal satisfaction. Pending the kids age, the longer they hover over the process the harder for the players to mature regardless of where they play or not. Let the coach, coach. However, we know that a shortage of quality coaches does exist and so you are at the mercy of where you live and who is available to guide the developmental process along. It doesn't happen and DA or ECNL clubs all the time either. They just get more numbers and can cast off players and pick the athletes to go compete. Many very good players in small clubs with 1 or 2 quality coaches running programs to develop players. Do your homework, go watch a training session, see if the players are being educated and the coach is actively working on something in the session. If that looks good, you want to be on his/her team because regardless of winning anything in youth soccer, the knowledge goes with the player and in the right environment prepares them for the next level. If your a good parent and your involved, you can find ways to market the player onto the next level not necessarily relying on the club to do it. All you need is a solid coach endorsement of his/her abilities.

This is exactly what Brian Pensky (Tennessee) advises. Well stated and helpful post.

This sounds exactly like what FESA is selling in North Florida.

These parents are wrapped up in the cult of club soccer. They can't see clearly. Stay alert my friends.

You're lying. I have yet to experience or witness any club with a DOC who has a new BMW and spends 5 minutes at the fields. You're stirring up total BS to be a jerk. You're the clueless parent.

You're definitely one of the clueless ones. The bimmer is in the garage clean and waxed. He shows up to the fields in a '98 Camry so you and the other clueless parents keep writing the checks...

Agreed and the tacos from your country are the best - hands down.
So why come to America? You have good soccer and tacos at home.

Soccer isn't the most popular sport in Mexico though.
