Yes and only in the 25th percentile for height! So that means my kid does have a chance to go pro!

And have a dad who knew what he was dong and made sure his son had opportunities outside a more traditional development path.

Agree...but...for the sake of argument, many dad's feel that can describe them. So, that's why (in some, not all, cases) you have dad coaches. They "know better".

I played the game for 30 years and still follow it, but I svck as a coach. It's hard to accept that for some.

Absolutely true - I've seen plenty a player ruined by parents who don't have a clue. This one worked out but also speaks to a small but seemingly growing number of younger players bucking the system and seeking opportunities abroad, not here in the US. Says a lot of about DA and the MLS.

His father was an excellent coach. He coached both boys and girls teams at the youth level. He stressed skill over size and tactics over physicality all the way through. He certainly paved the way for Christian. It his talent drive all of his success. Similar situation to Emerson Hyndman but with his grandfather. I think Christian's skills and athleticism are better. Christian is unbelievably explosive and agile.

Also played abroad. Two other recent European signers also played high school

I don't disagree. I also think many others THINK they are excellent coaches....

Yes those are rare examples of it working. Many parents THINK they will be the next example. The few smart ones step away when they realize they need to pass the baton to someone more skilled - hopefully before the kid is all screwed up.

At 14, Pulisic moved to the U.S. Soccer Federation’s under-17 residency program in Bradenton, Fla. ....at 16 he signed with Dortmund....he played DA for a bit , but don't make it sound like DA was the reason he became so good....he also played in Detroit when younger as dad coached a indoor team there....

Exactly - he did not follow a typical developmental path. Playing DA "some" doesn't qualify as being developed by a DA club

Its true he lived in PA when his dad was a D3 college coach there and started playing in PA. Then moved to Detroit when his dad got the indoor Pro job. Then moved back and his dad and mom both coached at the DA club where he and his sister played. He played in that DA club a few years. Always a year or two up. He played in the 96/97 u16/15 DA as a 98 and scored 15 goals in 21 games (highest). His dad isn't listed as the head coach of the DA, but I know he did much of the training and coaching during Christian's youth at the DA club and probably in Detroit before Bradenton.
