All this tells me is that Mauser is the best and Walpole will be their only competition

Can anyone beat Nausea or Walpole? Who will advance to play Winchester?

D2 south is going to be a better tournament than the D1.

          Walpole
          Nausea
          Duxbury
          Dartmouth
          Hingham
          Pembroke
          Bishop Feehan

All good quality teams and programs.

I won't argue with whether its going to be more competitive but teams like Hingham, Pembroke and Duxbury wouldn't survive D1 south. Don't know much about Feehan.

I definitely want to see a Walpole-Nauset showdown though. Assuming this Nauset team is for real and doesn't crap out early in the tournament.

I wonder what team will have the luxury of beating Nauset in the first round this year?

Both Dux and Pembroke scrimmaged Weymouth and BC during the preseason. While I know it's preseason, both teams were just as good as them. They also compete with Silver Lake throughout the season. Divisions don't matter for the top quality teams at each level.

Doesn't matter -- No one touches Nauset

Has Nauset played or beat anyone in the top 30

I'm from weymouth and we scrimmage Nauset twice in the preseason and I'll be honest I was very impressed with them as a team from players 1-17 which figured into the rotation. Would they have the record they have if they were in the BSC or another top conference I doubt it but they would still be something like 9-1-2 or so. The big disadvantage that they have is they don't play tournament style soccer during the season because there winning games 4-0, 6-0, 11-0. That doesn't prepare them to play a team so dominate defensively like Walpole who will grind out 1-0 wins all day. Nauset needs to find and schedule better non league games and have them be the last month of the season if possible. If Nauset can get through the early rounds and win those tight tough gritty games then they should Roll in EMASS but those early rounds kill them because they aren't battle tested throughout the season.

                      Just my thoughts on Nauset

There's reason to question Walpole, too. There's no denying 9-0-3 in their league is impressive. Best wins are over Weymouth and Framingham. The questioning comes from the fact that they seem to have played a lot of close games. Maybe they are that good, and actually have a team skill of closing out games well. But often a record like theirs is held by a team that's had a dose of good fortune, too. Time may tell.

Best opponent for them was probably New Bedford back on Sept 13. New Bedford is 8-4-3, and Nauset won, 2-0. New Bedford looks like they'll be a middling seed in the D1 South tourney. They play again on 10/25.

Nauset's only other close score, for what that's worth, is 2-0 over Sandwich. Sandwich has a nice 9-3-1 record, but none of those wins against particularly strong opponents: Marshfield is a D1 tourney bubble team; Hingham is touted by some in D2 circles, but not at higher levels. Sandwich and Nauset play again on 10/20.

Dartmouth is a fellow D2 team that you could argue have played a stronger schedule than Nauset, and are undefeated at 8-0-2.

                            Nauset

Nauset has Pembroke and New Bedford scheduled at the end of the season, so maybe they will be a little more prepared for the tournament than previous years

Pembroke doesn't figure to be much of a test, though, right? Well, their record says they're comparable to Sandwich. Don't know if that's better prep than Nausets had in recent years or not.
