B-R won that game vs Falmouth, so B-R is 2-2-0 in games that count for qualifying (their games vs New Bedford and Brockton don't count).

Potentially the Smallest D1 Bracket in Years the way things are shaping up... could easily end up with maybe 12 teams.

Think its time to go back to 3 divisions and flood the brackets with more teams to make things more interesting in each division.

Agree that 3 is enough, especially since it's good enough for 1/2 the state.

Returning to 3 state-wide should not mean returning to the much bigger brackets you remember. They were that way because a committee agreed that there could be far fewer teams in each division in some sections of the state than others. That resulted in the sections with fewer teams generally having one less round. An improvement would be to draw the section lines/assign schools to sections so that there's an equal number of teams in each section. [The divisions and sections could also be done so that your enrollment puts you in the same division regardless of where in the state the school is located.]

For example, we can still look at the 2012 and 2012 brackets online, which used the state-wide 3-division setup.
In 2012, 64 teams qualified in D1 statewide, which could have been a perfect 4 brackets of 16 teams each. But because of the way sections were defined, some had as few as 8, others as many as 25.
In 2011, it was 66 teams qualified in D1, meaning only 2 prelim round games might have been needed if the sections were balanced. Instead, bracket sizes ranged from 11-22 teams.

See i have no problem with the larger brackets. I think the State needs to do a better job in its breakdown between North/South/Central/West.

There are plenty of teams in the North and South that could easily slide into the west to increase the numbers in each division so we avoid the problems of having D1 North/South with 24 teams qualify in each division and then in the West/Central only have 12 Teams qualify and a less rigorous path to the State Finals
