    Time for US Soccer to part ways with Rapinoe. She knelt. Cut her loose. If you want to represent the country you stand at attention. You can choose not to, that is your right, but representing your country requires you to put your own intrtests on hold for the good of the team and your country. And respect your flag.

    BTW. Just like Kaep, you are a bench warmer!

          A US team would be hard pressed to release her for that action, as that would be un-American. A private team or league, like the NFL, has every right to suspend or eliminate a player for that action.

          I find it interesting that the protests against the flag are for cultural biases, which individuals are free to have, or for state policy (regarding gay msrriage)

Then show them "Saving Private Ryan" followed by documentary footage of the concentration camps. Then fly to Normandy and visit the American Cemetary. I guarantee you they will gladly stand for the pledge of allegiance.

            P.S. There are many places where Rapinoe would be executed for her sexual orientation. But she is oppressed but has the right to marry and live as she chooses. Hello?

                          Do you realize the hypocrisy in your statement? You say she has a right to kneel (which she does) but if someone exercises their right to express their disdain for her action you want them to leave the country.

                            From Soccer America

                            U.S. women's national team coach Jill Ellis said she supported Rapinoe's willingness to speak out about issues but expected players to stand for the national anthem. Asked before the game by ESPN's Julie Foudy what she would do if Rapinoe kneeled, Ellis said she would have a “conversation" with Rapinoe. As for repercussions, Ellis said, “It warrants a determination."

                            U.S. Soccer issued a statement that representing his or her country was a privilege and honor for any player or coach associated with U.S. national teams and therefore had particular significance for soccer's national governing body.

                            "As part of the privilege to represent your country," it stated, "we have an expectation that our players and coaches will stand and honor our flag while the national anthem is played."

                              What I posted in the CT thread:

                              I get it's their right to protest, and to do it peacefully. So, fine...I guess. Not how I would do it, but I will respect their right.

                              What I don't get, and someone else mentioned it, is at this point...what rights doesn't she have? It is a lot worse in many other countries. We've come a long way, and frankly for something that affects such a small percentage of the population it sure takes up a lot of the news.
