Paying $1600 to OC for a daddy coach ... Ugh!

I mean come on! No licenses, totally partial to his daughter who isn't at level, all because he played soccer in college in the 90's ? City, you are better than this ... If he wants to coach his daughter, who is not of P1 caliper, let him coach p2 ... This is such a joke and should not be happening at this club, age group, or skill level.

He's managed to get her time on ecnl last year. No parent should be coaching their child at this level. Parents should demand better

          Options

          1) walk
          2) bit** to the club and try and get another coach
          3) get all the parents together to do #2 (more strength in numbers)
          4) accept it, try and be open minded and make the best of it for the year

having a high licensure is no guarantee of a good coach - being able to communicate/teach/connect with kids is also key

I expect a lot of clubs to still have daddy coaches but not OC, they don't have a policy against that like most clubs? Shocker!!

Parents need to investigate a club's entire coaching staff prior to accepting spots. Does the club only have a few that you'd like and a few that are highly suspect? If so think twice because even when a club promises coach so-and-so it can change overnight. In fairness to clubs, changes can't always be controlled as coaches often leave, or the club might know for certain what the assignments will be at tryout time. Usually a club will have a history of using daddy coaches so buyer beware. If it was sprung on you, then get all the families together and ask the club why they think this coach is qualified. Don't do it yourself as you'll not only be labeled a troublemaker, but there's power in numbers. Complaining on a chat board will get you nowhere. Complaining directly to the club may also get you nowhere but at least the club will be on alert for walkouts.

Everyone in greater Orlando knows the Brody clown car. If you don't you belong on his rec team

TBU has a parent coaching both their Pre-ECNL and a ECNL team. If a Dad or Mom were long time coaches at a certain age group and their kid just happens to pass through I think that is probably OK. When the parent coach follows the kid year after year that can not be so good not just for the kid, but also the other kids who also end up with the same coach year after year.

Some parent coaches are highly qualified. I have no issue with a club hiring them if they meet the same standards all the other coaches have to meet. However, it's rarely a good idea for a parent to coach their own kid. Even when a parent coach goes out of their way not to favor their child, there's always suspicions and insecure parents watching their every move. It's not worth the politics. And plenty of parent coaches do favor their own children, making it a tumultuous mess and a club risks losing families

Ideally a coach shouldn't stay with a team more than two years either

Obviously there is nothing wrong if a coach has a kid that plays.
That's no what is being discussed. A daddy coach is a father coaching a team with their kid in that said team.
There should be no organized club allowing this at a higher level than rec. especially not at an ECNL level, that's is complete bs.
