2016 Girls D1 Fall High School Season

With the WNT Olympic bid ending in disappointment "what happened?"
What kind of soccer will successful girls D1 teams be playing? What schools will bring good soccer to the pitch and who'll just play it over the top and thru on offense or physical thuggy defense?
Who's returning the most depth and who's going to surprise with the most new talent and the best coaching? Which confrence will be the most competitive and which a cake-walk into post season? With GDA on the horizon maybe Mass High School Girls soccer is in for a big change in the next couple years?
SIMA fab 50 predicts Whitman-Hanson and Central Catholic as Mass favorites - The locals ESPNBoston and The Globe are yet to to weigh in.

Seems a good year to play Girls High School Soccer, Thoughts...

Could it be that many of the loudmouth parents kids have graduated? This is the quietest I can recall this being this close to the season. Even Cmass which traditionally is where the majority of tool bags reside is quiet.

Could be a down year in the DCL... CCHS rebuilding after losing all their seniors. AB and LS did not lose much from last year. Any chance that Westford or Newton South step up?

I believe that several of the really good D1 teams have lost a number of starters. Needham that has a wonderful program has lost several great players, I can't imagine they being as good as last year, but they are well coached so who knows. I would think that Whitman-Hanson finally wins the state championship after coming close for the last two years. I am tired about hearing about them having girls from other towns playing for them. They should just be looked at just like Bishop Feehan and Central Catholic who have girls from out of state for Pete's sake. Look to the South Shore for several talented teams. Marshfield, Silver Lake, along with Whitman-Hanson should be very good this year. Good Luck to all!

Just wanted to point out that Bishop feehan and central catholic are Privite school. They kind of have to get kids from other towns with bishop feehan they are close to RI so it make it logical that they may attract kids from that state. Also parents are paying for their kid to go there. Unlike WH where the tax payers are paying for these kids to go there.

...............and the parents from out of district send their kids to WH JUST FOR SOCCER. Academics have nothing to do with it. Let the kids from Whitman and Hanson play!

why don't you let them decide what they want out of their high school experience. Let's not forget there are over 180 schools that participate in school choice.

Do you know how school choice works? The school districts from the towns where these students reside PAY the WH school district for the students to attend. Doubtful WH would be doing school choice if they did not make out OK on the deal.

Plenty of parents send their kids to school for sports -- and plenty of kids choose schools based on sports programs. Why is this still a topic of discussion? We get that you do not do that for your child. Why question someone else's decision for their child?

Because they are taking spots on the team from residents of those towns. Whatever happened to school pride? Whatever happened to playing with your friends? Remember the youth programs that feed players into the high school program? I can question the program because I pay taxes in the town. You don't. My taxes paid for the field, the school, the infrastructure, the teachers, the buses and more. I'd rather see local kids, not kids from Abington and Norton play on OUR fields. Local kids who came up through OUR youth program. Those are the kids I will support. I know two kids who won't play soccer this year because they are tired of working their butts off and can't find a path to a varsity spot because it's already been promised to another NEFC player.

For those naysayers who say "too bad if your little Mia isn't as good as those other players." That's a load of hooey. Best players should make the team but not if they are not from the district.

I've been on the sidelines with these out of town parents and heard them snicker about the WH program. I know they could give a hoot about what the folks from WH think. They only care about getting their kids noticed by a D-! program. And for one them, it's worked. Already committed to a D-1 program, Congratulations and thank you for using WH to your benefit.

I'll never support school choice for athletic reasons----ever. I'll say it again. Go back to Abington and Norton to play for your own schools. From what I hear, they can use you. Leave us be...................................

School choice kids bring dollars with them. If you have more than one child, your kids cost the town more than you contributed. This provincial nonsense is for the birds. You want to grant privilege based on which side of some arbitrary love be one resides on, how antiquated.

Plenty of kids from Whitman and Hanson on the team to root for. Kids have no input in who plays or who doesn't. In case you don't know how it works playing for WH doesn't get you a scholarship playing for nefc at showcases does.

If someone was hosting a foreign exchange student who made the team, would you object to that as well?

For what it's worth the tax payers from the towns these kids come from foot the bill not folks from WH. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think there are around 15,000 kids in school choice from 180 school districts and most states participate in school choice.
