I am looking to get my daughter on a premier team. She is very good at soccer. What are some things I should look for when choosing a club? What are red flags to look out for? I am very new to all this. Thanks in advance.

She plays on a travel team and is athletic. I have heard that you don't have to be a mini Messi to play premier. Don't most clubs have a,b,c teams? Can't hurt to try.

Unless your child is in the top 5 of your town travel A team roster (be honest with yourself), don't bother wasting money at premier. Stay in town and save your money.
IF, and only IF your child is indeed at the top of your town travel A team roster, then I would suggest trying out for a big club's regional team, where they have A, B and possibly C teams.
If your child makes A team, proceed. You don't have to actually stay with that big club, but at least you know where your kid stacks up.
If your child makes big club B team, deduce if that B team is better than your town travel A team, and better than many other small premier clubs A teams. If it is, proceed. If not, go back to town travel or to a smaller, cheaper club's A team.
If your child makes big club C team. Go back to town travel immediately. This simply means your town travel team is very week, and being the top of their A team means nothing. You'll be wasting money going to premier.

Although I would also look at small cheaper clubs regardless of the tryout results.Even if C team player, may need more training not available through town soccer.

Roughly what is the range in cost of premier soccer? And what are the pros and cons of small club vs big club?

Premier soccer isn't about "soccer" and little Mia going for soccer trophy glory.
It is about money, time, logistics, and politics, as in how much are you willing to spend?
Put a value on everything. Then, if your Mia has the talent and drive.
Messed up, right? It is what it is.
The question should be, are you ready for premier soccer?
The persons you should be talking to are the team managers
and parents. Go to a practice and see the competition. There are lots of info
and books talking about premier sports and most of it is true.
If not, stick with orange slices, juice boxes and girls doing cartwheels during the games.

words...

do you want the 'premier' team or the 'elite' team?
What about the ECNL, EDP, Academy (GPS new one), NPL, or future DAP team?
If you were Valeo you would want the Barcelona team!!!
The clubs use all these words to hide the fact that there are truly A, B, C, etc etc teams.
I assume that you are asking about the top team, however, be careful not to be fooled by the labels that the clubs give them.
.....and thanks for you money

I understand the desire to get folks wound up during the season and when parents are nervously looking around for new club options, but this is the off season. Are you just bored?
