    New Forum

I have been on this site for a bit now, and always found it a bit strange that it was all anonymous. This leads to a lot of unnecessary bashing and downright ignorant responses that likely wouldn't occur if you could connect who was who when responding or reading through threads.

So, I started a separate forum called www.thesoccerpitch.net. Its not meant to replace this place, but it will just add to the resources available to people.

I am all for a new and improved (and less vile) spot to discuss soccer, but I still don't get how registering under a made up user name will prevent people from being idiotic trolls?

At least you'll know you are responding to the same person. Now, too many people pop in, reply to themselves, etc.

        It's not perfect, but better.

        (not the OP)

It may not prevent the bashing or rudeness, but it may allow one to be banned, etc. Fake name or not, you'll at least know that when you respond to "X", its actually "X" and not "A" - can't recall how many times in the last week I responded to someone and was clearly identified as BTNT or someone else that I still don't know who the initials correspond to...

This is great - I'm all for something that isn't anonymous because this site has gotten awful.

            will go check it out

.....although I do find it a bit ironic that you just posted this as "Unregistered".

Its an enabling habit that you can quickly post whatever without regard to logging in - but yes, I did post as unregistered (guess I'm as guilty as everyone else).

Overcompensating always gives you away. What other initials besides BTNT -- in the last week -- have you been identified as, lol?

FM was at least one of them.

Trolls will still exist, but at least they will be identified, with a history of posts. I know for a fact that there are some on this site that respond to their own posts with inflammatory counter posts just for giggles to get people riled up.

Sure someone can have multiple user names, but if that is what you really want to do no one can stop you. I would think it would become a pain in the arse to maintain different online profiles but so be it if youth soccer is so essential to your being.

Can you link us or give thread title and posts numbers for just a couple where you were identified wrongly as BTNT and FM or as anyone else?

There's way around that as well for anyone who is willing to put in 5 more seconds of effort, but the average user won't. But if people actually can get banned from some of the vile comments you see on here that would be a good thing.

Seems like that's all some TS posters have is TS

Yes, of course. Banning would be good. You can also just put the brownstars on ignore as well and not even see their posts.
