Very few clubs. The ones in it tend to be lower skill level. Summer league built for the North during the warmer months. Standouts?
    For example
    u10 boys 3 clubs
    u11 boys no teams
    u12 boys 4 teams
    u13 boys 4 teams
    u14 boys 5 teams
    u15 boys no teams
u16 boys 7 teams (duplicate club teams)
    u17 boys no teams
    u18 boys 4 teams

Yes there are some decent girls teams in South Florida. Its a great way to keep touches on the ball and for the competitive spirit when the Club season is over.

Of course we do, plenty of indoor basketballs courts all over the state. Granted those courts are closed until school starts.

Is Super Y still a big deal or is it slowly dying?

Seems like playing year round would eventually lead to burn out...is that a real issue?

Super Y seemed like a great idea, everyone jumped on the bandwagon this year only to find out there was not much demand.

Super Y is good in other states because players in the northern states play less in the winter. In Florida Super Y is very weak.

                      Makes a lot of sense...

I think there is a point one can reach where it becomes over training. I have to think that by mid-season, after playing all summer, that the kids would be worn out.

I guess it would be a good idea if you had another long layoff during the year, but for the most part the kids play from September until the end of May (tryouts). I could be wrong, but I always thought that constant playing (in a ridged setting like club soccer) can lead one to more susceptible to injuries.

I would love to see some sort of organized pick up sessions...basically a set time that the field would be open (with nets) that the kids could play pick up games...I know it doesn't seem organic as it should be, but for many of us, we have limited places to actually play soccer or not enough to have an actual pick up game.

Also Florida has beautiful weather all year round were there are a lot more distractions and activities to enjoy. As a player from up north has the limited ability to enjoy nice weather and take full advantage of the time they get on the grass. Too many Florida players don't take full advantages of their access to unlimited field play and have poor technique habits.

Living is Florida is a hell of a lot better then living up north...

Also, time off is good...allows the body to fully recover, allows players to enjoy some things they missed during the season and it makes them start to miss soccer...that renewed passion.

Or, in the North (every state above Florida) it is called laziness. Hard work beats talent when talent does not work, Florida is the state that does not work.

2 technical practices a week for 90 minutes will hardly lead to burnout or overuse and since the practices are in the late afternoon/evening, the summer heat is not really a factor. I find its a good way to continue to get touches on the ball and helps keep up your conditioning over the summer months.

I tell my daughter to use the Super Y games to try out new skills and work on things where she feels she might need work.
