    CUP (Cincinnati United Premier)

What can I say… The club claims to have fair tryouts and select best players for their CUP teams, yet parents report that if you have not played for CU in the past, there is no way of making the top CUP team. Presumably parents that are already “in the system” throw a fit and coaches fall into the pressure and would rather select internal kids than to pick a true talent from outside.

More power to them, but it is sad to see a lesser quality players being picked over someone who stands out, but didn’t spend the money at the club at early ages. Go ahead and try out for them, but keep your eyes open for a marketing spill about to be poured on you how *ahem* great they are.

Another thing to keep in mind is poor communication – good luck getting any kind of meaningful response from their leadership, that’s just not going to happen. Feel sorry for the kids playing there, but hey, it makes for one heck of a story at a dinner table.

Of course they didn't get accepted and now whine like little beatches. It is a well known and solidly established fact that their - CUP is the most successful and established club in all of Ohio. No one comes close to us and can touch us. Just get over it. You didn't make the cut amongst best of the best, now go sit in the corner and cry.

Their should be tryouts for tryouts to cut little whiners such as your self.

Very classy. Is the above representative of the club?

Probably not. It's probably someone trying to make the club look bad. Are you the loser OP? If so, do you you think your lie laden post is classy? Get a life, dbag...

Instead of spending money on club soccer for your kids you should put it toward adult education classes in order to grasp the fundamentals of the English language or, perhaps, some sort of an ESL class.

That's right! We get GDA! We are the place to be! CUP is where things happen and not your loser little club. Sadly we have to share GDA with some other loosers from kings hummer, their pretty worthless. And not sure how us soccer picked them but we have to deal with them. Players will come to CUP in flocks because we have it all GDA and good talent and coaches. Kings hummer would be left with the bottom of the barrel and eventually we'll get rd of them to keep GDA and good taller to ourselves.

That's just how things roll in big cincy. Like it or leave it.

It looks like bad grammar also "rolls" in big cincy. 😆

My daughter did play for CU from U8 - U11. They do take players from outside of the club for CUP. But they also show favoritism to certain families. I do get a kick out of seeing "lower" CU teams beat the top teams. There are several CUP Gold teams that thrive and now they have North I. Unless your child can make Gold (some age groups Black) or the top CUP I team for 05 and younger, there is no point in paying the extra $$$$. The 2nd, third and sometimes even 4th CUP teams are not playing at any higher of a level than the top two teams at smaller clubs. It is about finding the team that will develop your player the best. Playing at a club solely for the name is not a smart move.

We left CU because of the age group shake up; a few were playing CUP, a few were going to CUSE, CULM and CU SYC/Mason wasn't going to have a team. We went to tryouts for other clubs to see what was out there. My daughter thrives at her new club and is enjoying soccer again. I know several parents who removed themselves from the CUP cult and their children are happy playing the sport again.

Well, now it's not just about CUP. Both, girls and boys sides got DA now, so on top of CUP, now there're DA teams, which attracts even more players. It is pretty much a monopoly for CU/CUP here, as every child who can play ends up with them sooner or later. Good or bad, I don't know.
