Know a boys u16 team with 25 on roster. About 7 boys really never play unless blow-out - this is insane but i blame the kids and parents for going to this team in the first place. Did we need a separate thread for this? Yes 18 is the perfect roster size for 11v11 team, any more than this is blatant business over soccer. Clubs should try to be less obvious that they care more about $ than the kids. Abbey Villa's U16 boys team this year had more than 25. Who knows the exact size since kids seemed to come and go all season but it was over 25 all year. Pure greed, plain and simple. The club marketed the success of last years team, which was a standard size team, to get about 8 new players. I imagine teams of 25-27 are pretty profitable.Comment

My kid had an individual tryout with AV a few years ago. It was a few months after the June tryouts. The team was already full at 18 or so and they were more than happy to offer her a spot as a reserve player at full price ($2,200). Train with the team, but no games unless everyone got sick or hurt. That was so nice, they didn't even hesitate. Obviously decided to go elsewhere. Ended up on a team as starter at half the the price.Originally posted by Unregistered View PostComment

As an AV parent, I can say that is not true. Team hasn't had more than 25 and even then there are a few players that have not seen a training session or game due to long term injury. Many players have gotten injured this year in a way it has been good to have a bigger roster.Originally posted by Unregistered View PostComment
