That's terrific you you! Congratulations for your son making the team. You are able to either save all that money or perhaps this gives your son the opportunity to play this level (perhaps not afforded otherwise). It is a great opportunity.
The rest with sons not so talented as yours may need to shell over some money for them to play. Once again, congratulations to you! That's so wonderful for you that you won't need to be paying anything this year!
Enjoy the cost savings this year, and perhaps going forward. I hope You won't be reading someone else gloating about free revs next year. Hopefully you won't need to eat your own words.

Sometimes free ends up costing you more in the long run

Zero. The number of points the Revs got last night in a weak loss to Dallas.

I seriously would not want the minds who have put together and train that team to be responsible for my son's development.

Zero is also the numbers of minutes played by the most recent home grown Revs player.

Zero is also the amount of hours spent studying in the library on those four fun trips to Foxboro every week.

This from a guy that pays thousands to have a revolving door of 24 year old Brits coach his kid. For the record my kid doesn't pay for the Revs. All this Rev bashing is pretty sad. Your kid's team can't beat their team. They have what are potentially the best teams in New England and they are obviously free. They are also the hardest teams to make. If your kid got the call at U14 or U16 during prime recruiting time you would jump at the chance because it increases the likelihood that your dream of having a kid playing in college would come true. Just stop it with the constant bashing. It's unbecoming.

"Top" team in a weak bracket (and often times not at the top). Revs gets the better talent because it's MLS and admittedly it is the best option in the area. But it doesn't mean they develop players (they don't) or do much outside of their region (they don't). They accumulate talent and that's as far as they take it. Yes Revs players land on college rosters but plenty of them have gone nowhere in their college careers. It's part of the broader issue with lack of interest in the Revs franchise. in this area they could truly dominate if they actually cared.

Don't you think it's about time for the Rev's 'potential' to be realized?

I live in the area and get to see enough Revs pro and academy games to make an objective opinion. As a lover of the game, I go to the academy games hoping to see a standout talent. The Revs draw from a very large demographic. I don't think it's a stretch to think a diamond of a player would eventually come through their ranks. I have seen players who 'were' diamond players on previous teams become just another cog on the Revs. I really think it's just politics that get their players onto national teams because I've seen better players on other DAP teams that don't get such recognition. And that probably points to a bigger problem in US soccer.

One final, illustrative point about the brain trust making the Revs decisions. They just gave up a lot to bring in Kai Kamara as their striker. Juan Agudelo is just coming back into form after injury and is one of the most dangerous players up top in the league. Now Agudelo has been moved to the wing and his touches on the ball are greatly diminished and the primary attack seems to be looking for crosses off Kamara's head. Bad strategy and it's obvious 2 games in (last night would have been worse if Barrios wasn't injured). But what makes it worse is that said brain trust saw the problem as offense when their defense is truly the problem.

Just the 2 cents of a relatively objective soccer fan. (yeah, I know. That's what it's worth).

So why don't these kids develop with all the high level soccer they are playing. I've seen many of the top teams from the big non-DAP clubs. I've also seen a fair number of DAP matches. The DAP matches are significantly more impressive, both athletically and tactically. Is it just the Revs that don't develop players? You're saying Seacoast and the Bolts do a better job? How can all those weekly practices retard development? I'm really interested to hear actual theories that involve explanations rather than vindictive rants.

So you hate the Krafts and that means the Academy does a bad job?

Maybe those diamonds from other teams become cogs because they don't have the mental fortitude to actually compete for a spot with like, or greater talent, rather than being catered to. Part of the process of bubbling the best talent to the top means some players can't handle the mental component.

No diamond was ever developed without substantial pressure.

20-22th bench player? Better off staying with current club. Only 24 games so your kid gets 5-6 hours playing time for the entire year. Talk to some of the misery parents on the current u14 team. And enjoy the fun weeknight drives to Foxboro. Congrats!

That's alright those boys will be back to their clubs playing full 90's in August. Misery will be all gone.
