very important what costs should be if for kids not massive profits for club owners

what costs should be if for the kids - not massive profits for club owners

I have read a lot of the posts on the big clubs and it is scary. You guys are being ripped off every way possible. Even some fo the smaller clubs charging 2K +

As my player is on Commonwealth FC U16 boys, we are currently in first place in Maple 1, state cup this weekend, ranked in got soccer top 20, and we pay $500 for everything. Why are these other clubs charging so much?

    For 500 we get
    Commonwealth FC fee -$500
    all maple D1 fees,
    all state cup fees,
    All ref fees
2 major tournaments like GPS ,
    all indoor training in winter,
floodlighted outdoor training on top turf fields,
2 licensed dedicated non parent coaches from Ireland and South America,
    soccer crazy driven kids
    Team improving dramatically each year
NPL teams constantly after our players
club still makes little money for overhead
owners in it for the kids

    This is fact

I wanted to keep it a secret but i cannot stand by and watch people totally oblivious and taken to the cleaners by these big clubs

You forgot to add that (1) The Club Sucks and (2) Maple is an absolute joke of a league - first place in Maple is like 7 or 8 in a field of 8 in NEP....good luck....don't post anymore, you look like a fool.

did not take long for the sad jealous people to come in as expected but facts are facts and we have beaten both NPL and lots of NEP teams - also takes nothing away from the facts that all other clubs are fleecing people - the post is really focused on costs

As parent on North shore team, salute that your club can do that but this is not the norm

You fail to recognize the importance of Status and families desire to feel that they have placed Mia and/or Landon on the right track.

You are trying to have a rational cost-based discussion and you are directing your anger at the clubs. The reality is that the majority of the market is not rational. It is emotional and purely aspirational. The clubs are merely meeting demand.

Who is being the more foolish? The ones spending a relatively small amount for what they recognize as recreational soccer or the ones who believe that spending a small fortune for essentially the same level of soccer somehow delivers more prestige?

it is fun beating up on these clubs with their loud coaches and fancy uniforms and no clue about soccer but got the fancy badge on their uniform to show they are paying $3k+

                          For $1000, we get:

                          All NEP Fees
All tourney Fees (5 this year)
                          All ref fees
                          Indoor training in winter (2x/wk)
                          Outdoor training (3x/wk)
Permanent light fixtures on new turf
2 licensed coaches, don't care where they are from
                          Soccer crazy driven kids
                          Team improving dramatically every year
Players constantly being moved to NPL team
Club probably makes quite a bit of money
Owners in it for the kids, and to make a career
All within 5 miles from my house

                          This is fact

I wanted to keep it a secret but I cannot stand by and watch people totally oblivious that the world is made up of all types. Those that preach how holier than though they are about how they spend their money, while apparently having enough money and free time to waste it pontificating on an internet message board strikes me as extremely hypocritical. Instead of worrying about my wallet, why don't you walk away from the keyboard and go volunteer somewhere....

We are agreeing. Prestige markets are full of foolish buyers and profitable providers.
You may not like it, but youth sports is a prestige market.

Parents happily pay a premium to give their child perceived advantage.
Be happy knowing that you are not being sucked in, and be proud that you are aware that the probability of any "ROI" on club soccer is lower than scratch tickets.

We are on the fools errand, you are not. Why are you not content with that?
