So I watch d1 closely. Yes I played. In the next 5 years, 90% of d1 scholarships will be international. Better players. Quotas. For all reading, *every* d1 coach will be watching and pursuing players from all over the world. It's a good thing for quality and will change the college and MLS game. It's a global sport. Can't wait.

Not so sure. Lots of good players coming out of r1. Best around and good training from elite clubs/dap. We'll see

International players are often older and more experienced than their American counterparts. D2 also has and will have a large share of international players.

This is a big shift for USA coaches. The international playing style and type of kids that were selected for those academies are very differ ft then the USA typical academy style.
More possession tactical less direct style. Not afraid to play from the back more patience more skill and confidence that way. Midfielders and forecasts don't have to play and run like tanks but have to be able to play fast--

What I've seen forth and and found interesting is that for now most of the interest for international players in USA colleges is coming from the very top d1 and d3 schools ( always have been interest from d2 and naia).
In other words many of the mid d1 etc don't get that excited about the 5 7 midfielder from cereal America cause they don't play that way yet. But the majors all going in that direction to be open to that. Same thing btw for pro academies in the U.K. Etc. lots more skilled players scouted not just muscle only -

All well and good for college soccer, and possibly some of those foreign players move into MLS ranks. But it makes it that much harder for US kids trying to play. Currently for top D1 you have to be in DA or the very few other top non DA teams. So in theory that should drive players to DA. But in many programs it isn't uncommon to see at least 8-10 foreign players. If more players get discouraged by their college prospects I wonder if more will wonder if giving up HS, etc. is worth it, especially at non MLS clubs? And after nearly ten years of DA, fewer players seem to have the skills for college soccer - what does that say about the system?
