A little known fact. Soccer/Futbol originated when English farmers began kicking various crops (pumpkins/melons) around in their fields. They commonly were holding a bottle of whiskey in their hands which made using their feet necessary.

So true. It's amazing how much ignorance there is about the origins of soccer. One reason for this is the misinformation on many websites. Many claim it started in the 700s with the English farmers but these same sources don't go ( perhaps deliberately ) farther back than the 700s

This news probably means GPS/Seacoast merger is not going to happen.

So how many DAP u12 teams are there in MA? Will these same clubs have a U13 team? Seems pointless to get involved in this when you will be cutofff at U14 and your players will seem like failures when they dont get invite to the real DAP clubs.

It seems to me now the DA program is getting watered down and becoming more about money. I know we are talking about u12 teams but when will it start to be u10 DA?

It's not really being watered down, just making it easier to funnel the best players to the clubs with full DAP programs. At U12, the kids don't need to be traveling to Montreal or New York every week for games. The training is the main focus at this age, so it's fine if they add a few more area clubs with good reputations to the U12 DAP progarm to cast a wider net and to keep weekend games within a reasonable travel distance. The very best U12s from this group of clubs will be encouraged to join the clubs with full DAP teams when they age out, so will end up in the system sooner rather than at U15/U16, when most of the best kids are currently migrating to the full DAP clubs.

The kids with a level of skill slightly below that needed to play DAP at the older ages will actually end up saving money. There will be better talent now competing for those U13 & U14 DAP roster spots, due to identification at the U12 DAP level, so these borderline kids may not make it to the next level. They'll stick to NPL/NEP, instead of paying the hefty fees for U13&U14 DAP, just to get replaced at the U15/U16 level, which happens often now.
