8th graders and calendar year teams

Has your club indicated what it will do for late birthday, 8th graders next fall if the teams go calendar year? Or even what the options are? We will have 11 girls in 8th grade who can't play high school ball, based on the team from this year.

no...this is the result of US soccer's change to birth year...an idiotic move. Don't worry, though, your club will cobble together a team for her to play on in yet another money grab.

Our club has made no announcements yet I think because leagues haven't made their decisions. Clubs can't really decide independently because a league can't have a mix of 2016 and 2017 adopters unless some clubs are ok with always playing up a year. Once it is sorted out some will either stack up a roster with almost all 8th graders so there is a team, or with a bigger club they could combine 8th graders across A/B teams then switch once HS ball is over. Some also idea'd about a "fall league" of some kind. There will be options, because, like the above said clubs won't give up a chance to make money

We have had this issue in Connecticut for years as high schoolers aren't allowed to play club soccer during soccer season. Last year on my sons team they had about 1/2 eighth graders. The club had a large fall roster and in the spring they split into two teams

Only an issue if the player makes varsity, I am hearing they can play both as long as the Club coach does not mind them missing club practice for High School JV and or Freshmen team.
