    Tryout

Out of curiosity how long does it take to hear back from a club after tryouts. Also do all clubs tell players either way if they made a team or you only get notified if you make a team and then hear nothing if you were not selected?

If you are trying to join an existing team, you will hear within 24 hours if they really want you. Longer than that and they are either making offers to other players or still trying to fill find the right players

You should hear back in a day or two. Depends on the club whether those not offered a spot are notified as well. Clearly, the clubs should notify either way.

Do yourself (more importantly, your kid) a favor and have him/her attend a training session before tryouts. This will provide a sense of the coaching style, club culture, etc.

we did that... made the mistake with this year but this is a club she has been attending their trainings and camps. She likes the coaches and asked to tryout for this club.... so we shall see

If you think you made a mistake, don't get stuck at a club you don't like for an entire year. Have your daughter try some other teams, too. She might like them just as well.

my typo.... Yes this years club has turned into a mistake... the club she wants to play for next year she has gone to their training's and summer camps previously and loves the coaches and has made friends with a lot of the kids that are trying out.

i appreciate all the advice. Thanks!

Most will let you know within 48 hours tops. Offers will go out to their top choices first, then they see who accepts, rejects and they go down the list from there. On the flip side you usually have only 24 hours to accept or reject an offer.

Sounds like it's a good choice for her - hope it works out

Thanks for the input. I'm not from MA but my states has zero activity on it. NJ is already in tryout season and this is the first year my daughter was trying-out for a team. After some of the responses on here as well as talking to someone my husband call the club. Without asking the age group or any personal information they told him that everyone will know next week. They had a lot of paperwork to go over... not sure if it is a party line and they are waiting on their top picks or what the deal is. Guess it's wait and see. Thanks again.

Seems odd to be in tryout season already (not doubting you at all... Obviously). Do you guys start the season earlier? Don't you still have club games left? Sorry if this ignorant... I'm really just curious.

To answer your question yes to all the above. Our seasons usually start first weekend in march and end first or second weekend in may.... some leagues go to the begining of June. This year our seasons all got pushed back because of the weather and now the club games aren't ending till last weekend of June. Tryout season here started this year first weekend of April for some clubs like NJ Rush and the rest were last two weekends and the next two depending on locations and club. I'm not in an area where there are a lot of choices for kids to play. honestly there is only one Club that is not over an hour away. The teams that are here are what you would call town club teams and those are the ones run by parent coaches and they aren't obligated to tell you if you were not placed on a team at all.
